Gujarat Confidential: ‘Silent Cuisines' of Gujarat
At Navjivan Trust Hall in Ahmedabad on Thursday, a unique book was released that documented 'foodways, recipes and Adivasi culinary traditions' in six northeastern districts of Gujarat – Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Panchmahals and Dahod.
The book, 'Silent Cuisines', has featured more than 50 heirloom receipes like pumpkin kheer, sun-dried pumpkin peel curry, stir-fried moringa flowers and poached masala eggs.
The book is written by Sheetal Bhatt and published by Disha, a voluntary organisation headed by Paulomee Mistry.
The book was written based on field work spanning over a year and half in the six districts. It was released in the presence of former Rajya Sabha MP Madhusudan Mistry.
