Paving wraps up on Lockhart Road as Barrie crews complete restorations
Paving is complete on Lockhart Road in Barrie, Ont.
Roadwork on Lockhart Road is nearing completion, with paving now finished and driveway and boulevard restorations underway, the City of Barrie says.
The work is part of the city's 2025 Pavement Holding Strategies program, which targets roads in need of maintenance to extend their lifespan and delay more costly reconstruction.
The project covers the section of Lockhart Road from Finsbury Street to roughly 100 metres west of Yonge Street. The City says crews completed the top layer of asphalt earlier this week, with the final paving markings finished later in the week.
Weather permitting, all remaining work should be complete by Aug. 22, the City says.
City officials say intermittent lane closures and temporary restrictions have been required throughout the project, but access was maintained for residents, emergency services and transit.
The improvements began in June and included concrete curb and sidewalk repairs, road base repairs, and multiple stages of asphalt paving.
