Kapuso Foundation-built school in Marawi receives 150 tablets, smart TVs
Marawi City's Camp Bagong Amai Pakpak Elementary School, a learning institution that previously benefited from classrooms built by the GMA Kapuso Foundation, has received a donation of 150 tablets and three 50-inch Smart TVs.
The contribution comes as part of the 'Pay IT Forward: A Digital Transformation Advocacy' initiative, spearheaded by RepublicAsia and iACADEMY in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
At the turnover event, Special Envoy to the Kingdom of Thailand Hon. Bran F. Reluao underscored the transformative potential of the donation.
'Today's digital access, under the Pay It Forward initiative, is more than just the handing over of digital tools. These tablets are bridges — to education, to empowerment, and to a more inclusive future,' he said.
The school's principal Sarah Basher and Superintendent Ana Zenaida Unte accepted the gadgets on behalf of the school community.
Also in attendance were GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, DBM Undersecretary Wilford Wong, and iAcademy President Raquel Perez Wong.
The recent donation follows earlier rollouts in Cebu, where 100 tablets and satellite internet devices were distributed to various public schools. — Carby Basina/LA, GMA Integrated News
