Feds catch suspect in Honduran murder by watching Jacksonville apartments where he once lived
Federal agents tracking a Honduran murder suspect arrested him on immigration charges in Jacksonville after spotting him at an apartment complex where he apparently lived years earlier, court records show.
Pedro Danilo Espinoza-Guifarro, 34, was charged with re-entering the United States without permission after being deported, a federal felony.
Espinoza-Guifarro was the subject of an Interpol 'red notice' ― an international request for law enforcement to find and arrest a suspect in a serious crime overseas ― for a murder in Honduras, according to a complaint filed in federal court July 10.

The complaint said Espinoza-Guifarro was caught in a 'targeted enforcement operation' by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after an FBI surveillance team set up observation at an apartment complex at 7061 Old Kings Road South in the Southside and spotted him getting into a Toyota Camry.
Agents followed the car to a Publix in the Rivertown area in St. Johns County, taking a photo and sending it to an agent who confirmed that was Espinoza-Guifarro before the car was stopped on San Jose Boulevard in Mandarin, the complaint said.
The complaint didn't include any details about the Interpol notice except that it involved a murder charge in Honduras. U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Barksdale ordered Espinoza-Guifarro detained July 10 and scheduled a preliminary hearing July 24, court records show.
Duval County court records show that the apartment complex where the surveillance started was also listed in May 2017 as the home address for a Pedro Danilo Espinoza Guifarrio, presumably the same person, who was cited for not having a valid driver's license. However, the complaint shows agents were watching a different apartment within the complex.
A warrant was issued several months later, apparently after he didn't show up for court.
Espinoza-Guifarro's federal complaint said he had been deported to Honduras from Louisiana in April 2022 and from Texas in May 2024.
