MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Gulf Coast is facing , and News 5 is tracking all event and facility closures and schedule changes. For convenience, this page has updates divided by county. Gulf Coast school closures due to severe weather Big Bounce America, a limited event featuring 'The World's Biggest Bounce House' at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds, has rescheduled all sessions from Saturday, March 15 to Sunday, March 16. 'Our Customer Service team will be reaching out via email to all impacted ticket holders with further details,' a said. In addition, 'We have also worked with our location partners to add an extra event day next Saturday, March 22,' the post said. 'If you're unable to attend your new session on Sunday, you have the option to move your booking to Saturday, March 22. 'If you're unable to attend either date, you can request a refund.' Escambia County EMS's Open House — which would have been held Saturday, March 15, has been rescheduled to April 12, according to a county news release. 'Out of an abundance of caution due to Saturday's moderate severe weather risk, Escambia County EMS has rescheduled its Open House event to Saturday, April 12 from 12-4 p.m.,' the release said. The event will take place at the Escambia County Public Safety building. Attendees can tour the EMS facility, look at new ambulances, learn CPR, participate in kids' activities, and enjoy the EMS employee chili cook-off. The event is free to attend. Pensacon Day has been rescheduled from March 15 to March 22, according to an event news release. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Splash City Adventures, 6709 Pensacola Blvd. LOCATION: Admission is free, and attendees can enjoy all amusement park rides with complimentary tickets distributed at Pensacon 2025. 'Cosplay is encouraged, and the day will feature Pensacon giveaways including passes to Pensacon 2026, Pensacon swag and other exciting items,' the release said. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Marine Patrol Division has canceled a Boating Basics and License Course scheduled for Saturday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mobile Police Department. The Gulf Islands National Seashore has closed the Fort Pickens Area for incoming day users and campers. All visitors and campers were required to evacuate by 3 p.m. on March 14. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity opens NWFL Community Land Trust application
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — The Pensacola Habitat for Humanity has opened its Northwest Florida Community Land Trust homebuyer application. 'The CLT is a shared equity model designed to make homeownership attainable for low-income households,' read an HFH release. Pensacon 2025 to feature blood drive — donors get a T-shirt and more HFH officials said this is an alternative to 'renting for qualified households by separating ownership of the land from the home.' Homeowners in the CLT will be able to own the house but not the land the house sits on and will sign a 99-year ground lease for the land, according to the HFH release. 'Our goal is to create and maintain affordable homeownership beyond a closing date,' Pensacola Habitat for Humanity's CLT program manager Alica Popper said. 'The stewardship of land through the CLT provides not just a solution today but creates permanent affordability for generations to come.' Pensacola's HFH's President and CEO Sam Young announced how the CLT would help transform affordable housing in September at a special luncheon. 'The CLT model will create new, permanent affordable housing in our community, and will have the greatest impact on the most amount of people,' Pensacola Habitat for Humanity's vice president of programs Betsy McDonald said. In order to be eligible, applicants must: Have a credit score of 640 A minimum income of $35,000 for Escambia County homes $30,000 for Santa Rosa County homes. Brooks Street to closure temporarily with detour in Fort Walton Beach: FDOT
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WKRG) — Part of Brooks Street will be temporarily closed in Fort Walton Beach on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and Thursday, Feb. 6, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. 'It felt so meant to be': Country music artist says Northwest Florida feels like her hometown According to an FDOT release, underneath Brooks Bridge will be where the closure is in place as crews perform drainage work and reconstruct that section on Brooks Street. Officials said Brooks Street and Florida Blanca Place SE will be placed in a two-way configuration during this time. Drivers will be detoured through Florida Blanca Place SE, First Street and Perry Avenue, according to officials. The closure is part of the $171 million Brooks Bridge Replacement Project that includes constructing two new, parallel bridges to 'increase capacity' to six lanes.
