Gabriel ‘Fluffy' Iglesias is set to return to the stage at the Peoria Civic Center
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Peoria Civic Center has announced that comedian Gabriel Iglesias is coming back to Peoria in October. Iglesias, who is also known by the nickname 'Fluffy,' has added Peoria for one of the stops on his most recent tour, The 1976 Tour: A Fluffy Celebration on Oct. 18, the civic center said in a Facebook post. Iglesias is one of the world's most successful stand-up comedians and one of the highest-grossing touring comedians of all time. He is one of the most watched comedians on YouTube, with over 2 billion views and over 34.6 million fans across social media. He was the 3rd highest-grossing comedian of 2024 according to Billboard,' Kelsy Martin, a civic center spokeswoman, said. He has also been named the Hollywood Reporter's 'Top 40 Comedy Players,' joining the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Lorne Michaels, she said. Iglesias stars in the Netflix series Mr. Iglesias, where he is a high school teacher and has released four stand-up specials with the streaming platform, she said. 'We're thrilled to welcome Gabriel Iglesias back to the Peoria Civic Center. Comedy continues to be a very strong portion of our event calendar thanks to talent like Mr. Iglesias,' Martin said. 'He's one of many comedians who we've seen sell out shows in our Theater and are now continuing to have fantastic turnouts in our Arena as well. These success shows continue to put Peoria on the map and make Peoria Civic Center a must-play tour stop.' To put a topper on all he has accomplished, on March 11, 2025, he received his own handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater, which recognized his impressive career, she said. Tickets will go on sale through the PCC Insider Presale at noon on Wednesday, June 4, and for the general public at noon on Friday, June 6, and can be purchased here, the post said. Peoria Civic Center receives donation of Epinephrine injectors
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Peoria Civic Center received a donation of Epinephrine injectors on Wednesday. The donation came from the Peoria Chapter of Red Sneakers for Food Allergy Awareness and was presented at 3 p.m. in the civic center's great hall, Peoria Civic Center Senior Marketing Manager Kelsy Martin said. The injectors were provided with food allergy training and certification for the civic center medical staff. Lindsey Spangler of Red Sneakers, Peoria said 33 million Americans have some kind of severe food allergies. 'Epinephrine is the only life-saving medication to help reverse a severe food allergic reaction,' Spangler said. 'Due to epinephrine costs and or lack of education, many people do not carry epinephrine for themselves or their child. When it comes to anaphylaxis, time matters.' General Manager of Peoria Civic Center Rik Edgar said he was thankful for the donation. 'Peoria Civic Center is proud to be among the first entertainment venues in the country to be prepared with undesignated epinephrine (stock epi),' Edgar said. 'We thank Red Sneakers Peoria for their generous donation and the positive impact they are having in our community.' Broadway shows to showcase at Peoria Civic Center this season
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Peoria Civic Center has announced the Broadway performances coming to Peoria this season. Beau Sutherland the civic center's assistant general manager, and Allie Ramlo the assistant marketing manager, told WMBD This Morning more about it. Ramlo said the civic center is 'lucky' to get two shows that are currently on Broadway. Those shows are: 'The Book of Mormon,' and 'Hadestown,' which won Best Musical and Best Original Score at the 73rd Tony Awards. Also appearing this season, 'The Addams Family' (musical), 'Les Miserables,' and blockbuster musicals, 'Mrs. Doubtfire' and 'Beetlejuice-the Musical.' Both Sutherland and Ramlo quipped not to say the title of that last musicial out loud, refering to the main character possibly showing up on stage.
