PepsiCo Pakistan organises ‘Misal-e-Basti' policy dialogue

ISLAMABAD: PepsiCo Pakistan convened the Misal-e-Basti Policy Dialogue, on August 8, a closed-door high-level roundtable titled advancing water stewardship through model communities, with its strategic partner Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). The dialogue earned widespread institutional backing, bringing together senior leadership from the federal government, development institutions, diplomatic community, private sector, academia, and policy circles to mobilize cross-sector momentum for scaling community-based water and climate resilience models into national frameworks. The dialogue placed a spotlight on Misal-e-Basti, a pioneering Water Stewardship Model Community in Chak RS, Shujabad, near Multan, launched by PepsiCo Pakistan in collaboration with WWF-Pakistan and independently evaluated by SDPI. Launched on World Water Day 2023, the project was inaugurated a year later and, by mid-2025, had undergone a full independent impact assessment by SDPI. Chief Guest Dr Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal, Minister of State for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, commended the initiative, stating, 'Misal-e-Basti by PepsiCo Pakistan exemplifies how cross-sector collaboration between the public, private, and development sectors, alongside policy think tanks and most importantly the community, can scale solutions that advance sustainable development, climate resilience, and socio-economic progress. This model must be scaled up and embedded into national policy.' Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Pepsi and PCB's historical partnership unveils

The LCCA Ground transformed into more than just a venue, it became a stage for progress, empowerment, and a bold statement in support of women's cricket. PepsiCo Pakistan, in collaboration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), officially launched the Pepsi Playboard, a revolutionary initiative set to change the game for aspiring female cricketers across the nation. With the energy of a movement and the unity of a cause, the event brought together trailblazers of the game and champions of change. Cricket icons Bismah Maroof and Urooj Mumtaz stood as role models for a rising generation. At the same time, voices like Hareem Farooq and Rafiya Nazir lent their support to a louder truth: the game belongs to everyone. At the center of this campaign is the Pepsi Playboard, a unique interactive billboard equipped with real, professional quality cricket gear made especially for women. It's more than just a symbol. It's a practical step forward. Girls can walk up, borrow the equipment, play, and return it for the next dreamer waiting to shine. Under the empowering slogan 'Ab Hai Tumhari Bari,' Pepsi is challenging the status quo and addressing real hurdles: lack of access, proper gear, and societal support. This isn't just talk, it's action. To fuel the future of women's cricket, Pepsi is also donating full cricket kits to Pakistan's U16 and U19 women's squads, laying the foundation for the next generation of stars. One speaker summed it up perfectly: 'It's time we stop asking girls to wait and start giving them the tools to play.' With the Playboard, the boundary lines have been redrawn, not just on the field, but in minds across the country.

‘She Feeds the World programme' successfully concluded

ISLAMABAD: CARE Pakistan with support from PepsiCo Pakistan and in partnership with the PepsiCo Foundation's long-term commitment to driving social impact marked the successful conclusion of its flagship She Feeds the World (SFtW) programme with a national event titled, 'She Nourishes Change'. The event brought together policymakers, donors, researchers, civil society members, and community leaders to honour the women leading efforts to redefine agriculture, nutrition, and rural resilience in Pakistan. Launched in 2023, SFtW was designed to address some of the most pressing challenges in rural Pakistan including climate stress, food insecurity, and limited access to clean water, and the persistent exclusion of women from agricultural systems. What emerged from the fields of Vehari and Okara over two years was not just progress, but transformation. The programme directly supported over 130,000 people, while indirectly reaching an additional 1.5 million individuals. Women-led Village Savings and Loan Associations mobilized over PKR 8.9 million, enabling the launch of micro-businesses and strengthening financial independence. The adoption of climate-smart farming practices led to impressive yield increases - maize harvests rose from 63.5 to 74.7 maunds per acre, and potato yields improved from 60.1 to 69.4 maunds per acre. Access to clean water was significantly enhanced through the installation of 10 water filtration plants, which now serve 32,717 people—many of whom gained access to safe drinking water for the first time.
