Wednesday star Percy Hynes White has very ordinary new job after sex assault allegations got him cancelled
Axed Wednesday star Percy Hynes White has a very normal new job almost two years after he was dropped from the hit show amid sexual assault allegations. Hynes White, who played Xavier Thorpe in the Netflix show's first season, was written out after he was accused of purposefully getting women drunk at a Toronto party he hosted so he could have sex with them. Hynes White adamantly denied all the allegations, branding them a 'campaign of misinformation.' As season two gets underway without him, the actor, 23, was seen working the door at a Santa Monica bar this week. A smiling Hynes White checked IDs, manned the velvet rope and greeted guests on the night. Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Hynes White for comment and has yet to hear back. Hynes White had been a rising star – with notable appearances in The Twilight Zone and The Gifted – before the allegations emerged in a now-deleted Tweet posted by an anonymous social media user on January 18 2023. The poster claimed she had been sexually assaulted by the actor at a party he was hosting and accused him of throwing the bash with the intention of getting women drunk enough to get them to have sex with him. 'Percy is wonderful young man, that's the truth,' an insider told Daily Mail at the time. 'He never took part in any of the false claims again him, which were on Twitter and never followed up or substantiated. 'Percy is respectful, gracious, talented actor, a true professional. He's unfailingly polite to all, including the crew and his fans, most of whom are loyal to him as it should be. 'For Netflix to drop him from the show is a disgrace. It was just false rumors. It's just not right.' In June 2023 he issued a statement regarding the since-deleted anonymous social media posts from that past January. In his impassioned post, he wrote: 'Earlier this year, somebody I've never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online. Because of this, my family has been doxxed, and my friends have received death threats. Underage photos of me were used, and examples of me acting in character were presented as hateful.' The actor took to his Instagram Story last year to repost a cast photo and wrote a caption about how he would be tuning in to the upcoming season He then went on about how one of his friends was 'falsely portrayed as a victim' and condemned the 'baseless, harmful claims.' In September 2023 Daily Mail exclusively revealed he had been axed from the show. Even though he would not be returning to Wednesday, he does have other projects in the pipeline, including teen horror film Whistle. Ortega — who is starring in the upcoming, highly anticipated Beetlejuice sequel — will be returning as Wednesday Addams. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez and Luyanda Unati Lewis Nyawo will be upped to series regulars for the upcoming season. Zeta-Jones plays Wednesday's mother Morticia while Guzmán plays father Gomez and Ordonez plays little brother Pugsley. Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer will also be returning. Fred Armisen and Jamie McShane will be making appearances in guest roles. Other new series regulars will include Billie Piper (Scoop), Evie Templeton (Return to Silent Hill), Owen Painter (The Handmaid's Tale) and Noah Taylor (Law & Order: Organized Crime). , and Thandiwe Newton was recently cast for a guest star role. Naomi J. Ogawa is exiting the series, according to Deadline.

‘Wednesday' Showrunner Confirms We've Seen the Last of Xavier Thorpe
It turns out that Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) was right to leave Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White) on 'read' after he gifted her a cell phone at the end of season yet, during season two of Tim Burton's Wednesday, we see her throw the phone into a boiling pot before returning to Nevermore Academy, only to find that Xavier had been transferred to another supernatural school. It's an abrupt end to a significant character from season one—but intentionally so, on the production team's behalf. Co-showrunner Alfred Gough told TVLine, 'We have seen the last of him,' and clarified that Xavier is 'at a boarding school we mentioned in Season 1, Reichenbach, which is like the European version of Nevermore.' Although firm that the character would not be returning or recast, Gough did not address the allegations that arose surrounding Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier. A series of accusations of sexual assault emerged surrounding White in 2023, which he denied in a since-deleted Instagram post. Netflix confirmed last year that White would not appear in Wednesday's second season. Jenna Ortega previously shared with Vanity Fair that '[Wednesday] being in a love triangle made no sense.' and added, in regard to White leaving, that it's 'a weird redirect, but we're introducing so many different characters that I think it kind of will get lost.' And lost it was, almost immediately in the second season—with a final art piece warning Wednesday about the crow on the headstone, Thorpe was written out of the Netflix show. Actor Hunter Doohan remains as Wednesday's sole twisted suitor, Tyler the Hyde, who plays a darker role in part one of season two. While Xavier's absence was felt at the start of the new season, as we wrote in our review, the chance to renew the show's focus around Wednesday and her friends in a more meaningful way served the show for the better. That in turn drove the point that her love triangle from season one was unnecessary, rendering Xavier's role in the narrative pointless, really—even before you dug into the accusations surrounding White. Part One of Wednesday season two is now streaming on Netflix. Want more io9 news?
