Buc-ee's Is Headed To The Florida Panhandle
Buc-ee's has its sights set on the Panhandle for its next Florida store!
The Tallahassee Democrat confirmed this week that the beloved Texas-based chain has submitted a permit application to Leon County government for a new Tallahassee location.
"Buc-ees took the first tangible step in the permitting process with the county by submitting a Permitted Use Verification (PUV) on Friday, February 7," Leon County Spokesman Mathieu Cavell told the Democrat, adding that the permit is currently under review.
According to the newspaper, the application proposes a 75,000-square-foot Buc-ee's store on roughly 73 acres immediately north of Interstate 10. Located on the west side of Capital Circle Northwest, the Tallahassee store would be on par with the chain's other new builds in terms of size. The flagship location in Luling, Texas, will retain the title of the world's largest convenience store at 75,593 square feet.
"This is going to bring approximately 200 jobs ranging from $16 to $32 an hour," Leon County Commissioner Christian Caban told the Democrat. "There are six jobs paying over $100,000 a year in salary and benefits. This is going to bring great economic impact to the west side of Leon County.'
Founded in Texas in 1982, the roadside mecca remained within the confines of the Lone Star State until 2019. Since then it has expanded rapidly across the South. Today, Buc-ee's boasts 36 stores in Texas and 14 in other states, including locations in St. Augustine and Daytona Beach.
This is a developing story.
