Mother and son killed in three-vehicle collision

SEGAMAT: A mother and her son were killed in a three-vehicle accident at Km148 of Jalan Johor Baru–Seremban near Chaah here earlier today. Segamat police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the victims, a woman in her 70s and her son in his 30s, were travelling in a Perodua Viva when it was rear-ended by a four-wheel drive vehicle, which was driven by a man in his 70s. The impact caused the car to veer into the opposite lane. "A lorry driven by a man in his 40s was approaching from the opposite direction and was unable to avoid the car, resulting in a collision," he said when contacted. Both mother and son sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by a medical team. Zamry said the drivers of the four-wheel drive and the lorry were uninjured. He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Thai man dies in crash after stealing car, bike

SUNGAI PETANI: A Thai man was killed in a collision with a lorry on the Sungai Lalang–Bukit Selambau road, shortly after stealing a car and a motorcycle. The man, who worked as a helper at a local restaurant, is believed to have begun his ill-fated journey around 6pm on Monday, when he allegedly stole a Perodua Kancil belonging to his employer in Bedong. "Upon reaching Ambangan Heights, the vehicle was involved in a collision with a Perodua Viva. "The crash caused engine damage, rendering the car immobile," said Kuala Muda district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan. "At the scene of the first accident, the man then stole a Honda Wave motorcycle from a passer-by who had stopped to help and fled in the direction of Bukit Selambau." However, his escape was short-lived. After riding for approximately 10km, the man was involved in another collision—this time with a lorry. "He died at the scene from severe head and body injuries. He is believed to have been in his 20s," Hanyan added. Later that evening, police received two separate reports of vehicle theft—one from the employer and another from the motorcycle owner. "Preliminary investigations have confirmed that the deceased was involved in both thefts. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.

Military man charged with raping, sexually assaulting 13-year-old

MELAKA: A military sergeant was charged at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court today with five offences, including rape and sexual assault involving a 13-year-old girl earlier this month. The 32-year-old father of one pleaded not guilty to all charges when they were read out before Judge Haderiah Siri. Deputy public prosecutor Wardah Ishhar and lawyer SS Amritpal Singh represented the prosecution and defence, respectively. According to the first three charges, the sergeant is accused of raping a girl aged 12 years and six months and committing two counts of physical sexual assault against the same victim. The rape charge was filed under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which provides for up to 20 years' jail and whipping upon conviction. The sexual assault charges were framed under Sections 14(a) and 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) 2017, which carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in jail and whipping. For the fourth charge, he is accused of sexually grooming the child by communicating with her over the phone, an offence under Section 12 of SOACA 2017, which carries a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment and whipping. "He was also charged under Section 13 of the same Act for meeting the victim after grooming her, by picking her up from her hostel and taking her out in a car. If convicted, the charge provides for a jail term of up to 10 years and whipping. All the offences were allegedly committed inside a Perodua Viva at the car park of a supermarket in Cheng, near here, around 1pm on May 4. The prosecution proposed bail at RM90,000 for all charges combined, with additional conditions that the accused report to the police once a month and refrain from contacting the victim, her family, or prosecution witnesses. The defence appealed for a lower bail amount, arguing that the accused had served in the military for 10 years, posed no flight risk, and was the sole breadwinner of his family. The court allowed bail at RM25,000 for all charges combined, with the additional conditions as requested by the prosecution. The case has been set for mention on June 26 for document submission.

Final Destination Moment In Kelantan, Car Goes 'Nope' And Makes U-Turn

Subscribe to our FREE Are we all really in control of our lives? Or is our existence actually just chaos and everything that happens or will happen to us is decided by fate? Moments such as the one seen in a video uploaded on TikTok by @notcikguleo recently made us wonder how some people seem to have a bottomless bag of luck. In the video, a lorry could be seen carrying stacks of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) tanks. You know, the ones we use in our kitchens to light the stove? A white Perodua Viva could be seen trailing behind the cargo lorry after passing a traffic light. As both vehicles approach a low overpass, the lorry driver seems to have misjudged the height of its cargo. As expected, the highly-stacked tanks of LPG hit the overpass and everything came tumbling down. The Viva behind the lorry? Not a scratch. Well, at least not physically. The compact car's driver immediately learned a lesson on following too close to a large cargo lorry, and probably in fear of another possible calamity, they immediately made a u-turn to get away from the scene. Although we may not hear it, the Viva driver's actions definitely screamed 'Nope!'. Final destination klate edition A little bit of good fortune, and a whole lot of survival instincts Many TikTok users related the incident to popular horror movie franchise Final Destination, where a character would receive a vision of their death, cheats it, and it comes for them later in creative ways, suggesting that there's no way to outrun the grim reaper. Some said the Viva's driver had exceptional survival skills and common sense, which is contrary to the characters in the Final Destination movies who seem to have the survival insticts of tissue paper. Speaking of Final Destination, the latest instalment is set to hit cinemas on 16 May! The sixth movie in the series, Final Destination: Bloodlines, stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana as a college student who inherits her grandmother's sudden premonition about death, and tries to save her family members after they start dying one by one. As a reminder to parents with young children, the movie is That means the movie's gory and violent content will be shown in its full glory. Adults only! Share your thoughts with us via TRP's .
