Texas A&M receives prediction to land elite 2026 4-star DL out of Georgia
Texas A&M lost a significant amount of starting experience on the defensive line after three players left for the NFL. With this season's projected starters being upperclassmen who may also enter the draft, building young depth is crucial for the program's future. That's already clear in the 2026 class, where the Aggies have secured four hard commits along the defensive line and have several other high-priority targets. The latest addition is top-50 prospect Tristian Givens, who brings elite talent that A&M hopes to pair with another standout from Georgia. The Aggies' strong track record of producing NFL-caliber defensive linemen makes them an attractive destination for recruits. One such recruit is Bryce Perry-Wright, a native of Buford, Georgia, who recently named Texas A&M among his top four schools, alongside Clemson, Miami, and Texas. He is set to announce his commitment live on July 5, with the stream available on YouTube. On Wednesday, Rivals recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong dropped one of his patented 'FONG BOMB' predictions, forecasting that Texas A&M will land Perry-Wright. Considering head coach Mike Elko's recent success with top targets, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Aggies land another high-profile commitment. Perry-Wright, a dual-sport athlete, has proven effective both inside and outside on the defensive line. His impressive junior season—57 tackles (13 for loss) and nine sacks—helped lead his team to the playoff semifinals and earned him a spot in the Navy All-American Bowl. According to Rivals, he is ranked as the No. 33 overall prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 5 edge rusher, and the No. 5 player in Georgia. 2026 5-star defensive lineman has announced his commitment date
Texas A&M's priority prospect list in the 2026 cycle is dwindling after landing several names over the past two weeks, including back-to-back commitments from four-star tackles Avery Morcho and Zaden Krempin late last week. Coach Mike Elko and his staff are focused on building from the trenches, and while the offensive line looks loaded for the future, the defensive line is two elite prospects away from being solidified. Next month, 2026 five-star DL Lamar Brown will announce his commitment, choosing between the Aggies and LSU, which is reportedly as "50-50" as a decision can get, while it was announced on Monday night that fellow five-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright, who took his official visit to College Station late last month, has announced his commitment date. Perry-Wright's rise has been something to watch over the past few months, as the undersized lineman possesses elite athleticism that should translate to the next level sooner rather than later, leading to nearly every Power Five program taking notice. According to 247Sports' Tom Loy, the Georgia native will choose between Clemson, Miami, Texas, and Texas A&M on Saturday, July 5, which will stream on 247Sports and CBS Sports at 5 pm ET. Texas A&M has as good of a chance at landing Perry-Wright after hosting him for his final official visit of the summer, though Miami and Clemson are also clearly in the mix, while the Texas Longhorns' success at securing elite defensive tackles could continue. According to 247Sports, Perry-Wright is currently positioned as the 32nd-ranked prospect in the cycle, the 2nd-ranked defensive lineman, and the 5th-ranked prospect in Georgia. Blue-chip DL Bryce Perry-Wright names Texas in top four, sets July 4th commitment date
Blue-chip DL Bryce Perry-Wright names Texas in top four, sets July 4th commitment date Texas currently has the No. 14 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. They have a great opportunity to move up those rankings soon when four-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright makes his decision. The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder has named Texas in his top four schools along with Clemson, Miami, and Texas A&M. Perry-Wright has also set his commitment date for July 4. On3's industry rankings think extremely high of Perry-Wright. He's ranked as the No. 34 recruit nationally and the No. 5 edge in the nation. They list him as the No. 5 prospect in Georgia. Perry-Wright has been a consistent performer over the last two seasons. In 2023, he racked up 51 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks on his way to being named a MaxPreps Sophmore All-American. He was even better as a junior with 57 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. In 2024, Perry-Wright took multiple unofficial visits to Texas. However, his June 13 official visit will be the most important because he went to see Clemson last weekend and will visit Miami next weekend (June 6) and Texas A&M (June 20) after seeing the Longhorns.
