Pete Wicks delighted as dying dog Theo gets loving home for final days
Pete Wicks talks of his joy after Theo, who has a terminal heart condition, is rehomed with a loving family following an appeal by him, Dog's Trust and the Mirror Strictly star Pete Wicks ' quest to find dying Theo a home has ended in success - as he has finally moved out of kennels. The lovable Neapolitan Mastiff with a serious heart condition has been taken on by loving couple Natalie and Darren from Worcestershire. It follows an appeal from the TV star, the Mirror and Dog's Trust. Theo, who is only four, may only have up to a year left to live. Pete, 37 was desperate for him to spend his final days with a family. The kind-hearted star previously told the Mirror he would offer to pay for all Theo's medical bills himself. Speaking after Theo was rehomed, Dogs Trust Ambassador Pete said: 'I couldn't be happier that Theo has found a new home. He's such a big softie and deserves to be in a home filled with love. "Knowing he'll be spending his days surrounded by people who adore him means the world to me, and to everyone who's followed his journey. Thank you to all who have helped us on this mission to find Theo a forever home.' Theo's new owner, Natalie, added: 'We've always had big dogs, and after losing our beloved Mastiff, Freya, we were looking to welcome another gentle giant into our lives. The moment I saw Theo, I just knew we could love him. He's such a beautiful dog; how could anyone not want to give him a home? 'We're realistic about his condition and know our hearts will break one day, but that's the risk you take with any dog. For now, we're simply enjoying his incredible personality and making the most of every moment. He's only been with us a few days, but he's already proving to be a wonderful addition to our family.' Pete first met Theo after he was brought to Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Warwickshire as a severely underweight stray. He now weighs a healthy 52kgs. His story is being documented in the upcoming series of Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake. Emma-Jane Thomas, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, said: 'Theo is one of those dogs who leaves a pawprint on your heart. We're so grateful to Pete and the For Dogs' Sake team for helping us share his story, and to Natalie and Darren and their family for giving Theo his forever home. "Seeing him settled into a loving home is the happy ending we all hoped for. Theo's story is a reminder that every dog, regardless of age, health, or background, deserves a chance at happiness. He's now living his best life, surrounded by love, treats, and plenty of belly rubs.' Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake returns to U&W for a second and third series, plus a Christmas special. Series one is available to stream for free on U.

Strictly's Pete Wicks confesses act he 'refuses to do' for a woman
Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks has confessed there's one act he won't perform for a woman. He recently revealed all on his Staying Relevant podcast with Sam Thompson You may often wonder what rules celebrities have in place when it comes to their love lives, and it appears Pete Wicks has a pretty big one. The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant recently revealed all as he appeared on the Staying Relevant podcast with his best friend, Sam Thompson, and he made a candid confession about his future wife. When talking about relationships, Pete, 37, was asked how he'd propose, and there's one thing he appears to be set against doing. He made his thoughts clear when Sam quizzed him on his future proposal plan, but it's clear he's not interested in what it will look like on social media. In a clip posted on Instagram, Pete said: "I'm not overly interested in hiring videographers and f***ing people to capture every single moment of it. I don't need f***ing 'How Long Will I Love You' in the background." When asked if he'd rather get married abroad or at home, he added: "It depends whatever's poignant. If it was poignant for us that, I don't know, you know something really important to us happened at the M1 services, I'd do it there. "It doesn't matter where it is - it's about the person. I'd be on my knee whilst I tell her how much she means to me, 'I've never been in love before until I met you, and I knew from that moment that it will only ever be you'." Sam joked that he'd need to say a bit more than that to seal the deal, but Pete quipped that you can say a lot with your eyes. It's fair to say the candid confession got a lot of people chuckling. While Pete's future wife may not get every moment of their proposal captured, it looks as though many of his fans agreed with his stance. They couldn't help but laugh at the way he made the confession. One said: "Aside steals his forever heart is a lucky woman, he has a good heart." Another wrote: "I mean I'd say that was a perfect proposal to be honest!" A third replied: "The picture that Pete painted of his proposal was just perfect! I actually shed a tear." Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: "Yes - love this!" However, whatever Pete's ideas about love may be, it doesn't seem to be the main thing on his mind at the moment. This week he has been on a quest to try and find dogs a new home. As the presenter of TV show Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake, he meets hundreds of dogs every year who are in desperate need of a home; however, he was left so touched by the heartbreaking story of Theo that Pete is now calling on kind-hearted Mirror readers to help. Adorable Theo, who is only four-years-old, has a life-limiting heart condition, which means he may only have up to a year left to live. Pete is on a mission to find him a loving home so he doesn't have to spend his final days in kennels. To help out even more, the star has even offered to pay for all Theo's medical bills himself to lessen the financial pressure for anyone who is kind enough to adopt him. "I'm not afraid to admit I'm very emotional when it comes to dogs, but it hit me very hard, like a ton of bricks," Pete says. "It's impacted me quite a lot and makes me emotional now thinking about it…if you could meet him and just two minutes with him, he is this big, slobbery angel on Earth."

Pete Wicks' desperate plea to give 'beloved' dog a home before he dies
Kind-hearted TV star Pete Wicks is urging Mirror readers to adopt Neapolitan Mastiff Theo who may only have months left to live because of a heart condition For Pete Wicks, it was very much love at first sight. And as Theo the Neapolitan Mastiff bounds over and gives him a big, slobbery lick, the feeling is most definitely mutual. 'He is a big boy, clumsy, goofy, and a bit of a doughnut, but he's so soft and gentle with this squishy, slobbery face, and I just absolutely love him,' Pete says. As the presenter of TV show Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake, he meets hundreds of dogs like Theo every year who are in desperate need of a home. But he was left so moved by Theo's heartbreaking story that Pete is now calling on kind-hearted Mirror readers to help. Because loveable Theo, who is only four-years-old, has a life-limiting heart condition that means he may only have up to a year left to live. Pete is desperate for him to find a loving home so he doesn't have to spend his final days in kennels. And the star has even offered to pay for all Theo's medical bills himself to lessen the financial load for anyone who adopts him. 'I'm not afraid to admit I'm very emotional when it comes to dogs but it hit me very hard, like a ton of bricks,' Pete says. 'It's impacted me quite a lot and makes me emotional now thinking about it…if you could meet him and just two minutes with him, he is this big, slobbery angel on Earth.' Theo has dilated cardiomyopathy which means that his heart struggles to work efficiently. He also has arrhythmia. 'We don't know how long he's got before heart failure. It could be months. It could be a year, but the likelihood is that as he gets older, it will get worse,' he says. 'He may not have a particularly lot of time left. He is being treated with different medicines, which are incredibly expensive, so I've offered to pay for these myself.' Pete says he would have loved to have adopted Theo himself, who is currently living at Kenilworth Dogs Trust. 'I genuinely would love to but we're at the beginning of filming for the next six months, which makes looking after him impossible,' he says. 'But its upsets me when I think of this dog spending whatever time he has left in kennels. 'If there ever is a dog that deserves to be at home and have however long he's got left surrounded by a family, this is the dog.' They first met while filming the new series of the smash-hit U&W show Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake at Dogs Trust Kenilworth. Theo arrived severely underweight after being found as a stray. For now, Theo, who weighs 52kgs, is being expertly cared for by staff, who have also fallen in love with him, particularly Louie his handler. Given his heart condition, they have to manage Theo very carefully, who is a little limited in terms of the amount of exercise he is allowed. 'Keeping a young dog who's kind of got this lust for life quite calm, especially when it's a dog of his size, can be quite difficult,' Pete says. Instead they try and keep him stimulated in other ways such as through licky mats and puzzles, which Theo enjoys. 'We try to stimulate his brain in a way that kind of exercise would normally do, but keeps him fairly calm in the process,' he says. According to the Dogs Trust, Theo would be happy in a home with teenagers aged 14 and above, and could live with another confident dog, following a successful meet-and-greet at the charity's rehoming centre. Emma-Jane Thomas, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, adds: 'Theo is our resident gentle giant. He's got a wonderful temperament and buckets of love to give, but sadly, his health condition and life expectancy is putting off potential adopters. 'We're so grateful to Pete and the For Dogs' Sake team for helping us spread the word about Theo and his search for a home. 'Until we are able to find him a permanent home, Theo will be taken care of by our wonderful team of volunteer fosterers and staff at Dogs Trust Kenilworth, but we know his forever sofa is out there somewhere. And with Pete Wicks giving him the celeb seal of approval, how could you possibly say no?' Due to his size and energy. Theo will also need some support settling into a routine, including housetraining and gradually becoming comfortable being left alone. His ideal home would offer plenty of space and a peaceful routine, the charity says. 'If there ever there is a dog that deserves to live out the rest of his life surrounded by love, then it's this one,' says Pete. Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake is returning to U&W for a second and third series, as well as a Christmas special. Series one is available to stream for free on U.
