Teens' mental health scheme aims to 'create more hopeful future'

A charity that aims to increase vulnerable young people's practical skills has been awarded a lottery grant of more than £10,000 to launch a scheme to boost teenagers' mental Isle of Man Youth Motor Project (IOMYMP) will run the 12-month "Developing Authentic Happiness and an Anti-Fragile Disposition" scheme will include small-group sessions, talking therapies, skills-building activities, and structured personal development. Peter Hodgson from the IOMYMP said it was about creating a "safer, more hopeful future for those who need it most". The charity hopes the sessions will help young people improve their decision-making, build resilience, and develop healthier coping said the £10,840 grant would enable the charity to deliver a "meaningful and structured programme that offers practical tools for young people to build confidence, purpose and emotional strength".It is hoped that young people exposed to exploitation, harm or risk-taking behaviours will receive tailored Kelly, Chairman of the Manx Lottery Trust, said it was "an inspiring project that tackles some of the most pressing challenges faced by young people today" . Manx Youth Motor Project helps those who 'slip through net'

Financial support for a project that uses teaching practical skills to encourage young people to make "improved life choices" will allow it to help more of those who "slip through the net".The Isle of Man Youth Motor Project has been given a two year package of support totalling £14,400 by charity Looky's Project runs a number of courses and mentoring schemes for young people over the age of 12 to teach practical, technical and basic living Peter Hodgson said the funding would give the charity "security" beyond its normal financial restrictions, and enable it to employ an apprentice to reach more young people. Established in 1997, it provides courses in engineering and vehicle repair to vulnerable young project also runs a mentoring scheme and aims to use some of the funding provide continuity of support to those over the age of 18.
