NJPW TAMASHII will be the first pro wrestling event held in Western Springs since WWE's Road to WrestleMania tour in 2007. Nearly three decades earlier, in 1979, 'High Chief' Peter Maivia stood in this storied part of Auckland when he challenged Harley Race for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. That moment became a defining chapter in New Zealand's wrestling history. New Dawn Rising builds on that legacy; featuring homegrown talent from the NZ Dojo, alongside wrestlers from Japan, Australia, and across the Pacific. On Friday 4 July, the spotlight lands on Māngere as global wrestling powerhouse New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) presents COLD WAR, a one-night tournament under the NJPW TAMASHII banner to crown the first-ever NJPW TAMASHII Tag Team Champions. Locally driven by the NJPW New Zealand Dojo (NZ Dojo) in Ōtāhuhu, Auckland, COLD WAR brings together elite talent from Japan, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Samoa, Tonga, and throughout the local scene.
