El Mashro' X: The First Arab Film to Feature IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Atmos, and ScreenX

In a groundbreaking move for Arab cinema, acclaimed director Peter Mimi introduces his latest film, El Mashro' X (Project X), featuring four of the most advanced cinematic technologies in the world: IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Atmos, and ScreenX. Premiering in theaters on May 21, 2025, this ambitious release promises to redefine the moviegoing experience for Arab audiences. Plot Summary El Mashro' X is a thrilling Egyptian adventure starring Karim Abdel Aziz as Youssef El-Gammal, an Egyptologist who embarks on a high-stakes journey from the heart of Egypt to the Vatican, and into the depths of the ocean. His mission: to uncover the truth behind one of history's greatest mysteries—was the Great Pyramid merely a royal tomb, or does it conceal a far more enigmatic purpose? Directed and co-written by Peter Mimi (alongside screenwriter Ahmed Hosny), the film is produced by Synergy Plus, under Tamer Morsi. It features a star-studded cast including Yasmine Sabri, Eyad Nassar, Ahmed Ghozzi, and Essam El Sakka, along with guest stars Maged El Kedwany, Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, and Hannah El Zahed. Filming took place across multiple countries, including Egypt, Turkey, Italy, and El Salvador. Next-Level Cinema: The Four Technologies Powering El Mashro' X 1. IMAX Epic visuals that go beyond imagination. With ultra-high resolution and a massive screen format, IMAX draws viewers into the action like never before. Peter Mimi used IMAX cameras to capture key adventure and action sequences—especially scenes set in ancient tombs and underwater—creating an immersive visual experience with exceptional depth and clarity. 2. 4DX Feel the adventure in every sense. This multi-sensory format features motion seats and environmental effects like wind, water, and vibrations. Perfect for chase scenes and explosions, 4DX makes audiences feel as though they're part of the journey—especially during the film's deep-sea and archaeological sequences. 3. Dolby Atmos Crystal-clear visuals. Rich, 3D sound Dolby Atmos delivers multidimensional sound from every angle, paired with stunning visual detail and color contrast. Mimi uses this technology to heighten tension and atmosphere, drawing viewers deeper into the film's suspenseful world. 4. ScreenX Panoramic viewing that breaks the boundaries of the screen, ScreenX extends visuals across three walls of the theater, offering a 270-degree panoramic view. Used for expansive natural landscapes—deserts, oceans, and mountains—this format amplifies the sense of scale and adventure, placing audiences right in the heart of the action. Setting a New Standard for Arab Cinema El Mashro' X isn't just a film—it's a cinematic leap forward. As the first Arab movie to combine all four technologies, it sets a new benchmark in both production quality and audience engagement. With its cutting-edge presentation and international scope, Project X stands confidently alongside global blockbusters, ushering in a bold new era for Arab storytelling on the big screen.

Video: Trailer for Egyptian archaeological mystery film ‘Project X' released

The Egyptian film 'Project X' has revealed its first promotional trailer on Monday, ahead of its release in Egyptian and Arab cinemas in May. The film is directed by Peter Mimi and stars Egyptian star Karim Abdel-Aziz. This is their second cinematic collaboration, following 'Beit El Rouby' in 2023, which achieved record-breaking box office revenues in Egypt, described as 'historic.' 'Project X' is written by Peter Mimi, with Ahmed Hosni co-writing the script and dialogue. The story revolves around Egyptologist Youssef al-Gammal and his team as they embark on a globe-trotting journey across Egypt, the Vatican and Latin America as they uncover the truth behind a strange theory regarding the construction of the Great Pyramid – and whether it was actually a tomb. Mimi revealed in a recent post on his official Facebook page that the idea for 'Project X' had been on the table since 2018. He continued that bringing it to life was, 'Very difficult, both production-wise and visually, due to traveling to several countries, the presence of military and civilian aircraft and submarines, difficult-to-execute sets, action scenes, chases in difficult locations, and underwater filming.' The Egyptian director indicated that the circumstances are now favorable for the film's production and execution, following the series 'Al Hashashin,' which he presented starring Karim Abdel-Aziz during the Ramadan 2024 drama season.
