Injury puts Ducksch's proposed summer transfer in doubt

At the end of last season, it looked like Marvin Ducksch had played his last game for Werder Bremen, with reports suggesting he would likely be sold during the summer. However, according to Bild, the 31-year-old striker has suffered a muscle injury that will keep him sidelined until August, casting doubt on his proposed move. Advertisement Werder were reportedly hoping to receive a transfer fee of between €2–3 million for Ducksch, but the German tabloid now considers a move for that amount unlikely given the injury. In fact, it's now unclear if the striker will leave the Green-Whites at all. For now, at least, it appears he will stay. 'As things stand, Marvin will still be a Werder Bremen player on September 2,' said Werder's head of professional football, Peter Niemeyer. 'If something comes in, we'll look at it,' he added. Stade Rennes and Panathinaikos are among the clubs that have been linked with a move for Ducksch, who has one year left on his contract.

Ex-Celtic loanee set for transfer decision after new deal rejected

The 28-year-old hasn't won a Scotland cap for five years, but has been tipped to win an international recall after scoring six Bundesliga goals this season, including three in his last three games. Ex-Celtic loan striker Burke is out of contract at the end of the season and Werder Bremen have come up with two offers this month in a bid to get him to extend his deal. However, Burke - who was once Scotland's most expensive player and previously cost a combined transfer outlay of £28 million when RB Leipzig and West Brom signed him - is in no rush to commit his future to the club and could be about to move elsewhere this summer. Read more: Werder sports director Peter Niemeyer said: "We are continuing constructive discussions with Oliver. "We are not giving any updates." But Burke admitted he is not worried about his situation. He said: "Of course, every player wants to know what will happen to him, but I'm completely relaxed about it. "That's football, certain things just take time. I'll give my best in the final games and enjoy every moment."
