N.S. man dead, Ontario woman badly injured after crash in Petite Riviere
A man is dead and a woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a vehicle left the road in Petite Riviere, N.S., Thursday morning.
Lunenburg District RCMP responded to the single-vehicle crash on Italy Cross Road around 11:40 a.m.
Police say it appears the Infiniti Q50 was travelling south when it left the road, went down an embankment and ended up in the ditch.
The driver of the car, a 34-year-old man from Middle Sackville, died at the scene. A dog that had been riding inside the car was also killed in the crash.
The passenger, a 32-year-old woman from Burlington, Ont., was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The southern section of Italy Cross Road near Petite Rivière was closed for several hours. It has since reopened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
