Who is the best character in the Newcomer Banner in Persona 5 The Phantom X

(Image via Atlus) Just started Persona 5: The Phantom X and eyeing the Newcomer Banner? You're not alone. With a guaranteed 5-star pull after 50 attempts, this banner gives you a choice between three iconic Phantom Thieves: Ann, Ryuji, and Morgana. But if you want sheer power, smart mechanics, and one of the best Area-of-Effect (AoE) nukers in the early game, Ann is hands-down your best bet. Here's why. Why the Newcomer Banner Matters Unlike other banners, the Newcomer Banner is designed to give new players a strong head start. With a guaranteed 5-star character, it's your first big decision in team building—and it really matters. You get one chance to pick between three solid options, but only one of them can melt enemy waves like butter. WHICH BANNER SHOULD YOU SUMMON FOR ON GLOBAL LAUNCH? | Persona 5: The Phantom X Ann is the Best Character in the Newcomer Banner Ann is a beast . Her kit is entirely fire-focused and scales beautifully into both early and mid-game content. She's built to sweep , and sweep hard. Massive AoE Fire Damage Ann isn't just a pretty face with a whip. She's built to destroy enemy lines, and fast. Her kit revolves around AOE (area-of-effect) fire damage, which is perfect for clearing waves in both daily grinds and tough boss fights. "La Vie en Rose" Mechanic Here's where it gets spicy: every time Ann deals Fire damage, she stacks 'Passion.' At 4 stacks, she activates La Vie en Rose , which amps up her Attack stat significantly. This passive flows naturally into her combat rhythm—you attack, you build stacks, and then you go nuclear. Bonus Damage & Debuffs Once La Vie en Rose is live, Ann's fire attacks not only deal more damage but can also lower enemy Attack and inflict Burn . It's a devastating combo that softens enemy damage while boosting your own. Efficiency at its peak. IF NOT JOKER, ANN IS A GREAT OPTION! PANTHER BUILD GUIDE (Persona 5 The Phantom X) Ann = Early Game MVP In the early stages of Persona 5: The Phantom X , fights are often about clearing groups quickly before they overwhelm you. That's where Ann shines the most. She's low-maintenance, has a smooth damage ramp-up, and fits well in almost any team comp. Whether you're tackling daily challenges, boss stages, or farming materials, Ann makes every fight feel easier and faster. If you're still wondering who to choose from the Newcomer Banner, stop overthinking it. Ann brings everything a beginner needs—damage, survivability, and ease of use. She's the firestarter you'll want by your side. Pick Ann. Burn everything. Don't look back. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Watch Episode 2 here.

Is the Joker worth pulling in Persona 5 The Phantom X?

(Image via Atlus) In Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X), the hype around Joker's limited-time banner is real, and for good reason. Joker's a limited-time 5-star unit with major damage potential and serious nostalgia value. But is he just fan service, or does he genuinely shift your game? Here's everything you need to know! Joker is OP in Persona 5: The Phantom X? As the iconic leader of the Phantom Thieves, Joker isn't just here for nostalgia. He brings serious firepower, flexibility, and a toolkit that can carry your team through early and mid-game content with style. In P5X, he's not just a story icon — he's a gacha unit with impressive skills, especially in the Curse element category. If you loved him in the OG Persona 5 , he's back, upgraded, and ready to carry teams in a new way. *UPDATED* CURSED THIEF! BEST JOKER GUIDE & BUILD! | PERSONA 5: THE PHANTOM X What Makes Joker Worth Pulling? Here's why the Joker is worth pulling in P5X: 1. Reliable Curse DPS Joker brings insane Curse-type AoE damage, making him one of the top-tier damage dealers in the early meta. His skill scaling is strong even without needing his 5-star weapon, which is a rare W in gacha design. 2. Low Investment, High Reward You don't need to whale. Joker performs exceptionally well with 4-star setups and shines even without maxed constellations or 'phantom resonance.' He's beginner-friendly but still endgame-viable. 3. Synergizes Well Pair him with Rin (a free unlock with enough pulls), and Joker's potential skyrockets. Rin debuffs enemies, boosting Joker's output massively. It's a duo you'll keep using across story and PvE challenges. What Are the Disadvantages of Pulling Joker in Persona 5: The Phantom X? Here are some downsides of pulling the Joker in P5X: 1. Future Power Creep Joker is the first limited 5-star. That means more powerful characters will eventually enter the roster. Pulling for Joker now means locking in strong value early, but it could come at the cost of saving up for future banners. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Forget Furosemide, Use This Household Item To Help Drain Edema Fluid WellnessGuide Learn more Undo 2. Dependent on Synergy His full potential depends on other units like Rin. Without that support, his damage may not feel as explosive as other standalone DPS units. Wonder meets Joker - Persona 5: The Phantom X ( Global ) Limited-Time Only – Should That Matter? Yes and no. If you're a F2P player or on a tight budget, the limited window can feel stressful. But Joker isn't bait — he's genuinely powerful and usable across content. If you have the resources, pulling now gives you an early advantage, especially in mid-game stages where AoE damage is king. So, Should You Pull? Yes, of course. Unless you're saving for a very specific future unit or are extremely low on Meta Crystals, pulling for Joker is a smart move. He's stylish, strong, and surprisingly efficient and will get a solid return on your gacha investment. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Watch Episode 2 here.

Ren Amamiya in Persona 5 The Phantom X: Best weapons, teams, skill priority, and more

(Image via Sega) Ren Amamiya, the legendary Joker, has officially joined the fray in Persona 5: The Phantom X as a powerful, limited 5-star character. As an iconic leader of Phantom Thieves, the character wields a signature Persona, Arsene, and brings a devastating Curse damage potential. The players who seek to maximize their impact here need team synergy, the right gear, and skill focus, too. The guide here breaks down some essentials to build Ren to an ultimate Sweeper. Best arsenal for Ren Amamiya to deal maximum damage Ren excels as the Curse Sweeper and specializes in powerful multi-target assaults. The core strength here remains in Arsene's ability to unleash dark energy waves. For amplification of destructive potential, the weapon choice here is crucial. The top-tier option would be Phoenix Dagger. The 5-star weapon here quite significantly boosts Joker's attack (30%) and offers escalating Curse damage buffs (10% per stack), as he would build Will of Rebellion stacks, thereby culminating in the hefty damage spike. *UPDATED* CURSED THIEF! BEST JOKER GUIDE & BUILD! | PERSONA 5: THE PHANTOM X Note : At three stacks, Ren Amamiya's next attacks gain a 23% additional damage boost. It makes the character a devastating force. For players who have no access to this limited weapon, 4-star Machete would be the strong alternative—raising attack by 12% and increasing damage by 19.1%. It leverages Ren's tendency to exploit debuffed foes, offering substantial attack increases against weakened enemies. Team and skill focus for building efficient Joker Crafting the right team would unlock Ren's full capabilities. The premium setups would pair him perfectly with Leon, Rin, and Okkyan with the Personas of Wonder like Alice, Surt, and Dionysus. They specialize in curse vulnerability, defense down, and crit buffs, respectively. The contribution keeps the focus on maximization of critical hit potential Curse vulnerability and overall damage output via strategic Persona selections like Dionysus and Alice. The accessible free-to-play alternative can use Moko (replacing Rin) right alongside Okkyan and Leon, thereby achieving some similar support goals. Rin can be obtained after some specific milestones and is highly recommended as the character can synergize quite exceptionally well with Ren's mechanics. For skill priority in Persona 5, leveling Phantom Omen Skill 3, at first for the potent single-target damage and then stack generation, after Trickster's Plunder Skill 1, for the reliable AoE, will be a better move. The Thief Tactics come next, with Skill 2, the Arsene's Chains, receiving investment at last due to Extra Action scaling of it. Optimize cards and combat flow Beyond teams and weapons, Revelation Cards remain vital. Ren thrives with the 4-piece Ruin set. The combination can directly amplify the Curse damage and give a boost to skill power. When farming cards, give priority to Damage% on the Moon slot, Attack% on the Sky slot, and Crit Rate on the Star slot for optimal results. Understanding Ren's unique awareness effects is also the key to combat flow. The core mechanic of the Joker revolves around gaining Will of Rebellion stacks, quite particularly when damaging foes below HP of 60%. Reaching 3 stacks would trigger invaluable Extra Action. A high awareness level would further refine it, reducing SP costs on the extra actions, thereby enhancing damage against the specific targets, adding potent follow-up attacks, and making Ren the relentless force on the battlefield.
