AI won't take away jobs but adaptability essential: VP of pharma company
Mysuru: Artificial intelligence will not take away jobs, but people who fail to adapt and use AI may find themselves replaced, said Dr Girish Kapur, senior vice-president, India Site Operations & Site Head, USP India, Hyderabad.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Graduates' Day ceremony of JSS College of Pharmacy, held at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, JSS Medical College on Tuesday. In his address, Dr Kapur urged graduating students to remain updated with the latest technological advancements. "Adaptability is crucial. If you don't evolve with changing times, success will be difficult. Agility and a readiness to embrace change are essential for growth," he emphasised.
Highlighting the importance of personal discipline, he said, "Discipline is more critical than just hard work or talent. A disciplined approach transforms potential into performance. Let discipline be your signature—it should speak louder than your resume."
He also stressed the value of teamwork in the healthcare sector. "No single individual can solve the challenges of healthcare. Collaboration and teamwork are vital in building a healthier future."

Dr Kapur further noted India's pivotal role in global healthcare, stating, "India is the largest supplier of generic medicines globally, with nearly 40% of generics sold in the United States coming from India."
The toppers MJ Saroj, Anirudh Kamath, Kamakshi Shriya, Anju James, Katikala Tanvi, Lakshmi S, Meghana R, Darshan R, Bindushree G, Thummuru Jayasree Reddy, Shirisha G, Megha Kudpaje, and Harsha Pratap Singh got gold medals for securing highest marks in their respective degrees.
A total of 267 graduates received their graduation certificates for the year 2024-25 for various degrees, viz., B Pharm (104), Pharm D (35), D Pharm (30), and M Pharm (98) from the dignitaries present at the function.
Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami graced the occasion. JSS Mahavidyapeetha executive secretary CG Betsurmath, JSS AHER VC Dr H Basavanagowdappa, vice-chancellor, registrar B Manjunatha, and JSS College of Pharmacy principal TM Pramod Kumar were present. R Sudheendra Bhat, controller of examination, JSS AHER, Mysuru, administered the Pharmacists' Oath for all pharmacy graduates.
