CT man charged after swastikas painted on lawn
A Woodbridge man is facing several charges after police allege he spray painted swastikas on the front lawn of a property, according to officials.
Philip Bachelder, 30, has been arrested and is charged with second-degree intimidation based on bigotry or bias, third-degree criminal mischief, simple trespass, and disorderly conduct, according to the Woodbridge Police Department.
On March 13, around 9:15 p.m., members of the Woodbridge Police Department responded to the intersection of Johnson and Pease Roads on a report of vandalism. Responding officers met with a witness who said he was traveling on Johnson Road when he saw a man spray painting a resident's lawn. The witness alleged that they saw the man discard two cans of red spray paint on the ground. Bachelder was still on scene as police arrived, according to officials.
Responding officers discovered several 'We Stand With America' signs which were spray painted in red with the words 'Nazi' and 'Pedo.' Also depicted on the signs in red spray paint were several swastikas.
Bachelder has been released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on March 27, in New Haven Superior Court.
