Margot Robbie doesn't look like this anymore! Aussie actress reveals transformation in new movie role
She has become synonymous with her signature blonde locks over the years. But Margot Robbie looks very different in her upcoming romantic chick flick, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, alongside Colin Farrell, 49. In the trailer, the Queensland-born star, 34, rocks strawberry blonde locks and a thick fringe, a swift departure from her Barbie roots. The film, which also stars Kevin Kline and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, is set to hit Aussie screens later this year on September 18. The movie tells the story of Sarah (Robbie) and David (Farrell), who meet at a mutual friend's wedding and are soon swept up in an out-of-worldly adventure to relive their past milestone moments together. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. In the trailer, the Queensland-born star, 34, rocks strawberry blonde locks and a thick fringe, a swift departure from her Barbie roots Margot has been very busy despite the actress sensationally announcing in 2023 that she would be stepping back from acting for a stint. As well as appearing in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, the actress has been filming Emerald Fennel's Wuthering Heights adaptation alongside fellow Aussie Jacob Elordi. Margot is also producing the classic via her production company LuckyChap Entertainment, which she started with her husband Tom Ackerley. The Suicide Squad alum previously said she was planning on hitting the breaks following the success of her lead role in Barbie. Speaking to Deadline, she said she planned to work off-screen after years of building her acting portfolio. She added that she wanted to take a break from starring in movies as she thinks everyone is 'sick' of seeing her after her role in the Greta Gerwig's blockbuster. 'I also think everyone's probably sick of the sight of me for now. I should probably disappear from screens for a while,' she said. 'Honestly, if I did another movie too soon, people would say, "Her again? We just did a whole summer with her. We're over it."' Margot added: 'I don't know what I'll do next, but I hope it's a little while away.' The thespian noted that she's also been busy working behind the screen producing. Elsewhere in the interview, Margot laid bare her ambitions to direct a movie of her own, after years of producing critically acclaimed content. 'I really do want to direct,' she said. 'I've felt like I wanted to direct for about the last seven years. But I've always seen it as a privilege, not a right.'

Sophie Turner is Ripped for Her Tomb Raider Prep
Sophie Turner may be best known for the role of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones , and after her run as Jean Grey for X-Men , it looks like she's ready to jump into another franchise with Tomb Raider . Though we don't have an official look at the show yet, Turner has revealed just how jacked she's getting in her preparation for the role of Lara Croft. Check her out: Sophie Turner has been training for her upcoming role as Lara Croft in Amazon's #TombRaider show 💪 — Culture Crave 🍿 (@CultureCrave) May 20, 2025 There have admittedly been rumors that the Tomb Raider series had been cancelled ever since it was announced back in November, but things look to be moving forward as Amazon had just renewed their deal with the producers over at Story Kitchen. It's also worth noting that the series is created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is best known for her work in Fleabag . Admittedly, the Tomb Raider franchise has been having a hard time trying to stay relevant in live-action. The Angelina Jolie films just fizzled out, and nothing came out of the Alicia Vikander reboot. There was an animated series that came out on Netflix last year, but it didn't manage to get the hype it was hoping for. With successful adaptations like Fallout and The Last of Us , maybe Tomb Raider has a better chance at being a series. Though I wouldn't expect as much spectacle with a TV-format, I do think that Waller-Bridge is a great writer, and we can have an interesting characterization of Lara Croft besides the action hero we've all come to know. No release date has been set for the Tomb Raider series on Amazon.

Octopus! review – Phoebe Waller-Bridge's ocean documentary is a total waste of her talents
A nature documentary on an order of cephalopods is probably not quite what Amazon had in mind in 2019 when it signed television's hottest writing talent, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, up to a 'golden handcuffs' deal worth $100m over five years. But here is Octopus! and quite how or why it came about will probably remain a mystery as deep and unknowable as any eight-armed creature disappearing into the crevices of the ocean floor ahead of a curious camera. Ours is not to reason why, but to sit back and enjoy an idiosyncratic nature show, full not just of breathtaking footage of the extraordinary creature and input from experts in the field, but of animated, stop-motion recreations of parts of its life cycle, interviews with celebrity fans and plentiful comic asides and fourth-wall breakings from the narrator, Waller-Bridge herself. Describing one female great pacific octopus's last few months collecting plentiful 'sperm packets' from passing males, Waller-Bridge adds: 'Legend.' When Ms Great Pacific chooses 'Mike's' packet', Waller-Bridge explains that although he has 'zero prospects, commitment issues and lives in a rough part of the ocean … he was the tallest, after all.' She – or rather Gabriel Bisset-Smith, who wrote the narration, which must also have Amazon execs rubbing their eyes and flicking through that deal contract again – plays too on the famous Fleabag line and comments, 'This is not a love story.' How this sits with you is a matter of personal taste, though I think that for everyone it must jar with the section in which ecologists and researchers stress the difficulties of understanding creatures so different from us and warn against anthropomorphism. Such asides risk undercutting the subject and/or creating an air of smug superiority that alienates the viewer. If PWB has avoided both, I suspect it is only by the thinnest of margins. The bulk of the two-part documentary, however, is both gorgeously shot (by cinematographers including Luis Lamar, who also appears as an interviewee) and skilfully directed by Niharika Desai. It captures the bizarre elegance and unsettling everything about the boneless beings while dishing out enough facts and figures to leave you slightly better informed about them and as awed as when you began. This includes a little social history of the octopus, beginning with an early mention by Aristotle who considered them 'stupid' creatures, on through Danish bishop Pontopiddan's choice to base the kraken sea monster on them and give them an enduring association with villainry until Japanese artist Hokusai complicated things by including two of them and a fisher's wife in an 1814 erotica collection. Google this, if you must, very carefully. It wasn't until a documentary by oceanographer and film-maker (and co-inventor of the first successful scuba equipment, known as the aqualung – see, I can educate too!) Jacques Cousteau in 1972 that the idea of octopuses as intelligent creatures and fascinating in their own right began to gain currency. Forty years later, octopuses were named alongside whales, magpies and great apes in the Cambridge Declaration of Consciousness and your plate of tapas became that much more problematic overnight. Comedian and actor Tracy Morgan (best known here for playing Tracy Jordan in 30 Rock, which after Octopus! may stand revealed as a far less attenuated version of his real self than previously believed) is an octopus fan. He used to house them in aquariums at his home until he realised how fast and how large they could grow. But he is, PWB tells us, 'a walking encyclopedia' of marine facts. I'm not sure, then, why he is restricted to showing us his own collection of venomous sea creatures and joining in the overlong closing section of the show filled with guff about the interconnectedness of all things. Fortunately, there are enough non-celebrities with expertise who can give us the benefit of it without distraction. Foremost among them are marine biologist Dr Jenny Hofmeister and behavioural ecologist Piero Amodio, whose charm, marrow-deep love for their subjects and ego-free talent for sharing their knowledge with lay viewers should, in a just world, lead them to be given a show of their own. But we are where we are. It remains a strange choice for PWB – you could even go further and say it is a waste of the finite time she has to share her profuse and valuable gifts with the world. That is not to say the documentary itself is a waste of time – it's fun and enlightening and a delighted cephalopod PR department will surely be waving its many arms in the air – but you can only hope that it was done in a bit of downtime as Waller-Bridge works on her next great, as yet unspecified, thing. Octopus! is on Prime Video now.

From Phoebe Waller-Bridge's octopus show to Macaulay Culkin's pizza band: stars' wildest career U-turns
F or some years now, putting 'Phoebe Waller-Bridge' and 'Amazon' together in a sentence would only provoke feelings of sadness and disappointment. After all, in 2019 Waller-Bridge signed (and re-signed, and re-signed again) a $20m-a-year deal to develop shows for the platform, without a single project ever making it to screen. But that ends now. On Thursday, Amazon Prime Video will release Octopus!, a two-part documentary about some octopuses, narrated by none other than Phoebe Waller-Bridge. And while it does in fact look like a very good documentary about some octopuses – it's part-animated and seems to heavily feature Tracy Morgan as a talking head – it arguably isn't what Amazon had in mind when it paid Waller-Bridge $100m for content ideas. Still, forget that. If Octopus! is a success (and, sincerely, I hope it is), then it might spawn countless other species-specific underwater Waller-Bridge documentaries. Perhaps there'll be Seahorse! or Jellyfish! or Pacific Spiny Lumpsucker! Maybe several decades from now we'll exclusively think of Phoebe Waller-Bridge as an ocean documentarian and forget all about Fleabag, the same way that we forget about David Attenborough being the man who first televised snooker. What lies beneath … a scene from Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Octopus! documentary. Photograph: Courtesy of Prime It certainly wouldn't be the first time this has happened. For example, Harry Secombe spent his 20s and 30s working with Spike Milligan. As a founding member of the Goons, he was a pivotal figure in the history of British comedy. Without Harry Secombe, there would be no Monty Python, no Reeves and Mortimer, no Mighty Boosh. With a pedigree like this, Secombe could have chosen to do anything with his career. And yet to anyone in their 40s or 50s, he is primarily known for Highway, an ITV show where he shouted hymns around the country for a decade. Similarly, when Kal Penn starred in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle in 2004, he appeared to lock in a career as a comic actor who specialised in playing stoned goofballs. But three years later he fell in with Barack Obama and became a member of his National Arts Policy Committee. Once Obama became president, Penn rose even higher, becoming associate director of the White House Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs. He was the co-chair of Obama's re-election campaign, albeit after taking a break from politics to make A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas. Malcolm no more … Frankie Muniz in his Nascar truck. Photograph: Timothy L Hale/ZUMA Press Wire/REX/Shutterstock Then there is Frankie Muniz. As the titular star of Malcolm in the Middle, Muniz had everything he could possibly dream of. In the Agent Cody Banks movies, he even pivoted seamlessly to movies. But then, at the height of his fame, Muniz walked away to focus on many other things. Primarily there is race-car driving – Muniz became a storied Nascar driver who has raced the Daytona International Speedway countless times and currently races trucks – but this is just the tip of the iceberg. He is also (or has been) a drummer, a band manager, the owner and operator of an independent oil and vinegar store, a spokesperson for a brand of carbon fibre wallets and the proprietor of several Los Angeles car parks. But perhaps the most dramatic career handbrake turn belongs to Macaulay Culkin, who retired from being one of the most recognisable actors on the face on the planet in the late 90s to exclusively make a career of being Macaulay Culkin. He's traded on his Home Alone notoriety in various adverts and cameos. He formed The Pizza Underground, a very specific New York rock band who performed cover versions of songs by the Velvet Underground with all the lyrics rewritten to reference the various components of pizza (sample lyric: 'I've been out walking/ I don't do too much toppings these days/ Cheese days') and currently acts as CEO of the online publishing company Bunny Ears, which has a podcast and runs articles with headlines like 'Why You Need To Put Sunscreen In Your Butt Hole Right Now'. Now, will running a website about anuses make Macaulay Culkin as rich and famous as the Home Alone movies? No it will not. But it makes him happy, and that's the main thing. One can only assume that the same is true of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and her octopus documentary. If she's cool with it, we should all be cool with it too.
