Bertha Gxowa Hospital offers travel shots and health services
The Ekurhuleni Health District – Travel Clinic (Bertha Gxowa) is offering its services to the community.
It is open weekdays from 07:30 to 16:00 to provide various prevention services.
Operational manager sister Phumudzo Ratshilumelo advised travellers heading to malaria areas to first visit the clinic.

'The clinic also administers yellow fever vaccinations (Stamaril) for travel to countries requiring a yellow fever certificate, like Brazil and Saudi Arabia,' said Ratshilumelo.
'Most clients travel to Mozambique and get proper medication before travelling, when they visit the clinic.
'The clinic advises pet owners to get shots to protect against diseases from dog/cat bites or scratches, regardless of the pet's vaccination status.
'Some services at the clinic require payment, but being a government institution makes them the cheapest option.

'The clinic provides meningitis vaccines to protect against Neisseria meningitidis, the bacteria causing meningitis.
'When visiting the clinic, payment must be made by card. You must bring a valid passport or ID, a birth certificate, Road to Health cards, and an old yellow fever card if available.
'All patients must disclose if they are 60 years or older old, pregnant/planning to be or breastfeeding, if a child is under a year, have allergies (eggs, chicken, protein and more), have a weak immune system (due to corticoid treatment, chemotherapy or HIV), or have a bleeding disorder,' said Ratshilumelo.
