ABBA Claims A Bestseller Again As A Classic Returns
ABBA's Gold compilation reenters several U.K. charts at once, becoming a bestseller on multiple ... More lists at once. circa 1975: Swedish pop group ABBA (L-R: Benny Andersson, Frida Lyngstad, Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus), wearing similar white Asian-influenced costumes, perform for the television program Midnight Special with a neon 'ABBA' sign in the background. (Photo by) ABBA is one of the most successful musical groups of all time. The outfit may, in fact, be the most commercially viable pop band ever, depending on how certain acts are classified. After last week's charts in the U.K. were dominated by Record Store Day releases, a number of beloved titles became bestsellers once more. Now that the rankings are less competitive versus just a few days ago, ABBA benefits greatly, as its Gold: Greatest Hits compilation returns to multiple tallies at the same time, once again reestablishing itself as a bestseller – and in several formats, no less. Gold returns to two lists in the U.K. this week. It reenters highest on the Official Albums Sales chart, coming in at No. 44, just missing out on becoming a top 40 bestseller again. Over on the Official Physical Albums list, Gold is back at No. 53. While Gold returns to those two lists, it's also present on three other rankings at the same time, because it never disappeared from them – at least not recently. It holds at No. 25 on the Official Album Downloads chart and manages to climb on two others. This frame, it nears the top 10 once more on the Official Albums Streaming list, pushing several spots to No. 12. It comes in at No. 15 on the Official Albums roster — the ranking of the most consumed and most popular projects in the country. So far, Gold has reached the top five on each and every one of the tallies on which it currently appears. It's hit No. 1 on both the Official Albums chart and Official Physical Albums ranking and has come close to doing so on the others. The set has also racked up hundreds of weeks on each and every one of the lists it can be found on this frame. It's already passed 1,000 frames on two rankings, and in just two more turns, it will reach 1,200 weeks on the Official Albums chart. Amazingly, there are two different versions of Gold on the British music charts this week. Gold: Anniversary Edition can also be found on the Official Album Downloads list. It has now spent 227 weeks on that ranking, and this time around, it sits at No. 56. It speaks to the incredible popularity of ABBA's discography that two takes of essentially the same collection can land on the same tally at the same time. Gold — all versions combined — is one of the bestselling albums of all time globally, as it's moved around 30 million units. It is certainly ABBA's top performer, and it gathers together many beloved singles like "Dancing Queen," "Mamma Mia," "Take a Chance on Me," and many others that established the Swedish group as pop hitmakers. Released in 1992, it can almost always be found on the U.K. chart somewhere — and as is often the case, it is now present on multiple lists at once.

Prince's Latest Album Is An Instant Top 10 Bestseller
Prince's Live at Glam Slam debuts at No. 3 on the U.K.'s Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart, ... More marking his twenty-first top 10 on the tally. LOS ANGELES, CA - MARCH 19: Musician Prince is seen on stage at the 36th NAACP Image Awards at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on March 19, 2005 in Los Angeles, California. Prince was honored with the Vanguard Award. (Photo by) Prince's legacy has continued to grow ever since his passing years ago. He left behind a huge amount of material, and bit by bit, his estate has been sharing some of that music with the world. The late legend appears across a trio of charts in the United Kingdom this week with Live at Glam Slam, a full-length effort that was recorded more than 30 years ago but is just now getting a proper standalone release. The set features Prince alongside his then-band The New Power Generation, and unsurprisingly, the collection is already proving to be a must-have for diehard fans. Live at Glam Slam opens on three tallies in the U.K., powered by what appears to be solid sales. The project earns its highest entrance on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart, where it debuts at No. 3. The set also finds space on two additional rosters: the Official Physical Albums chart, where it starts at No. 68, and the all-genre Official Albums Sales list, which ranks it at No. 80. With Live at Glam Slam entering the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart inside the top 10, Prince now claims his twenty-first placement in the highest tier of that tally. According to the Official Charts Company, many of Prince's most beloved projects are classified as R&B, and it's clear that this genre-specific list has become a home for much of his work, at least in that country. Only six of Prince's releases have missed the top 10 on that 40-spot ranking. On the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts, however, his numbers are even more impressive…when looking beyond only the loftiest tier, that is. So far, the late icon has landed 37 titles on the former and 46 on the latter. Live at Glam Slam was released as part of Record Store Day, and it's one of dozens of special projects that were made available only in independent shops. The music featured on this triple LP isn't exactly new — it was included as part of the Diamonds and Pearls super deluxe edition — but this marks the first time fans can grab it as a standalone title. The album captures a live performance from January 1992, right before Prince and The New Power Generation embarked on their tour in support of Diamonds and Pearls. The 14-track set includes several medleys and deep cuts, and for collectors, the yellow vinyl pressing is an enticing and flashy bonus.

Elton John Charts Back-To-Back New Albums
Elton John is on a winning streak in the United Kingdom right now — one that most artists could only dream of replicating. In the span of just a few days, the legendary singer-songwriter has notched a historic No. 1 album and debuted two new titles on the charts in back-to-back frames. No matter how much music he releases, or how close together he shares new offerings, the piano player can't miss. John is back on the U.K. musical tallies with another new release. Live at the Rainbow, a live set tied to Record Store Day, debuts on both the Official Physical Albums and Official Albums Sales charts. The set opens at No. 61 on the list of the top-selling physical titles and just a few spots lower, at No. 66, on the all-around sales roster, which takes into account all formats. With Live at the Rainbow, John has now charted 21 releases on the Official Albums Sales roster throughout his career. This new success helps push his total on the Official Physical Albums ranking to a milestone 35. Live at the Rainbow is just one of dozens of Record Store Day exclusives to break onto the U.K. rankings this week. The project was recorded back in 1977 during John's six-night residency at London's Rainbow Theatre, where he performed alongside longtime collaborator Ry Cooder. The shows were captured for archival purposes — and, thankfully, they've now been revived for commercial release. The 12-track LP was hand-curated by John, who personally revisited the recordings and chose which performances made the cut. John's new triumph comes just one week after Who Believes in Angels?, his collaborative album with Brandi Carlile. That project debuted at No. 1 on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts just days ago. Now in its second frame, the title is down slightly across all the lists it opened on recently, but it still holds on inside the top 10 on four of the five charts it appears on. Two successful albums apparently isn't enough for the musician when it comes to the U.K. charts. John is also still going strong with Diamonds, his compilation that may never disappear. That set dips just two spots this week on the Official Albums chart, landing at No. 16, and remains at No. 8 on the Official Albums Streaming list. Even while promoting new music and releasing special editions of older material, his back catalog keeps racking up a huge number of plays via what must be a massive audience in the country.

Fleetwood Mac's Album Reaches A New Peak On Multiple Charts At Once
It's a busy week for classic rock acts across the United Kingdom, and one of the biggest winners — unsurprisingly — is Fleetwood Mac. Lately, it hasn't been unusual to see more than one of the group's albums on the charts in that country, as well as several singles. That's an unusual showing for a band that produced much of its most popular work decades ago, but at this point, it's a common occurrence for this outfit. This week, the band sees a decades-old title not only return, but surge to new highs, thanks to Record Store Day and an insatiable appetite for the group's work. Fleetwood Mac's self-titled effort — often referred to as the White Album, though it shouldn't be confused with The Beatles' similarly nicknamed collection — reappears on several U.K. charts this week. The bestselling project reenters three different sales-focused tallies and earns top 20 status on every one of them. The set is now present once again on the Official Vinyl Albums, Official Albums Sales, and the Official Physical Albums charts. And while it's only spent a handful of frames on any of these rosters throughout its long life, this week marks its best showing yet across the board. This frame, Fleetwood Mac returns to the Official Vinyl Albums ranking at No. 18. The title comes in at No. 20 on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts, just slightly beneath its placement on the vinyl tally — and those are brand new peaks for the project on each list. Fleetwood Mac's surge is driven in large part by a limited edition reissue that was introduced for Record Store Day 2025. The title was pressed as a picture disc and made available in small quantities, as just 6,500 copies were produced. That number might be overkill for some classic rock figures, but not Fleetwood Mac. The re-release also comes at the perfect time – well, almost. The effort's official half-century birthday won't arrive for a few months, but clearly the celebration has already begun. Released in July 1975, Fleetwood Mac was the band's tenth full-length and marked a major turning point. It was the first to feature Lindsey Buckingham on guitar and Stevie Nicks on vocals, and that lineup that would help catapult the group to unparalleled heights. This version of the band went on to craft some of the most successful rock hits of all time, including tunes featured on this album. The collection, which was actually the second to bear the band's name following the 1968 debut, was a commercial and critical smash. In the U.S., it's been certified seven-times platinum, shifting more than seven million copies. The tracklist includes fan favorites like 'Rhiannon' and 'Landslide,' both of which remain two of Fleetwood Mac's most recognizable and beloved compositions nearly 50 years later.

The Doors Chart A New Album, But Fans Already Know The Music
The Doors haven't operated as a fully active band in decades, but the group still occasionally returns to the charts with new releases, especially in markets like the United Kingdom. This week, the rock legends return to the British charts with Strange Days 1967: A Work in Progress, a special vinyl release that reminds longtime followers of the group's distinctive style and Jim Morrison's unmistakable vocals, both of which are spectacular – even in rough form. Strange Days 1967: A Work in Progress opens on a pair of tallies in the U.K., nearly matching its placement on the two. The special release starts at No. 52 on the Official Physical Albums chart and one spot lower, at No. 53, on the Official Albums Sales ranking. Including Strange Days 1967: A Work in Progress, The Doors have now landed 18 placements on the list of the U.K.'s bestselling physical albums. On the sales tally that also includes digital purchases, the band now claims an even dozen wins. It's only been about a year since The Doors last showed up on both of these charts, despite the fact that the group hasn't produced new work in years. In May 2024, the band returned with Live at Konserthuset Stockholm, another collectible that ended up spending just one frame as a bestseller. Strange Days 1967: A Work in Progress will likely follow a similar trajectory, appearing for a single week before dropping off. This new demo-style compilation was clearly crafted with fans in mind, and it arrived to be a part of Record Store Day 2025. The raw recordings provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the band's creative process while working on one of its most important and earliest collections. And even though the versions of the songs on this set may not be polished or fully finalized, that's part of what makes the offering so appealing. Longtime listeners now have a new way to experience Strange Days—and that curiosity appears to have translated into real sales. Strange Days 1967: A Work in Progress is made up of rough mixes from sessions tied to the band's second album, Strange Days, which arrived back in September 1967. That release followed less than a year after The Doors, the debut that turned the group into international stars. Lead Strange Days single 'People Are Strange' powered the sophomore set at the time and remains one of the act's most familiar hits.
