The most expensive vinyl sold on Discogs in July 2025

It's certainly been quite the busy month for vinyl aficionados in July, at least, looking at the sales that have taken place on Discogs. It would appear that jazz has once again become quite the hunt for several collectors, as we once again take a look at the most expensive vinyl to be sold through the online marketplace last month. There's also been some movement with Ozzy Osbourne's back catalogue as the world still comes to terms with the loss of 'the Prince of Darkness', and Taylor Swift's earlier work has once again elicited quite the sales price. But it's one thing to see how much one person would purchase what could be their 'holy grail' on vinyl, but not everyone is willing to pay that same amount. That's why we've decided to take a look at the median sales price for each of the 15 releases on the Discogs list, to give you an idea of how much it is worth, usually, rather than how much someone was willing to part with. But as ever with our look at Discogs, check you have the correct release (we've included catalogue numbers or barcodes where applicable), take a look and see how many are for sale currently and undertake your due diligence before listing anything. Keep it all on Discogs also; a number of you (myself included) will have no doubt received an email from the marketplace insisting not to take trades/orders away from the platform, for fear of phishing scams or even worse – paying for something that never existed in the first place. With those caveats in mind, shall we take a look at the big movers and shakers on Discogs last month? 1 . Sun Ra And His Astro-Infinity Arkestra – Continuation (ESR 520) As with many of Sun Ra's original works, Continuation was released on his self-produced El Saturn Records label in a very small run, often featuring hand-made artwork. This made each copy a unique piece of music history and art. The album's blend of cosmic free jazz and historical significance to the Afrofuturism movement makes it a highly sought-after collectable with a median selling price of £190.63. | Getty Images/Discogs Photo Sales 2 . Charlie Parker – Live And Private Recordings In Chronological Order Referred to by collectors as "The Bird Box," this 22-LP set is an unofficial masterpiece for jazz historians. Released in a limited, numbered edition of just 300 copies in 1986, it compiles nearly all of the known live and private recordings of Charlie Parker at the time. This massive collection offers an invaluable look into Parker's career outside of his studio recordings, making it a definitive "holy grail" for serious jazz aficionados, despite its unofficial status. The median value for this release is £226.75. | Getty Images/Discogs Photo Sales 3 . Nick Drake – Pink Moon (ILPS 9184) Nick Drake's final album, Pink Moon, is a folk masterpiece whose value has grown exponentially since its tragic release. Originally pressed in minimal numbers in 1972, this record gained legendary status decades after Drake's passing. Early UK represses, identifiable by the distinctive "pink rim" Island Records label, are especially prized by collectors and audiophiles who seek to own an original pressing from the era of the album's initial release. Still, you'll be looking at spending around £350.00 on average for it. | Discogs Photo Sales 4 . Mighty Ryeders – Help Us Spread The Message (SG-456) This 1978 release on the tiny Sun Glo Records label is a legendary "rare groove" and funk classic. Originally overlooked and pressed in very small numbers, the album was later rediscovered by DJs and collectors. Its iconic status was cemented when the track 'Evil Vibrations' was famously sampled by De La Soul. This connection to hip-hop history, combined with the album's extreme scarcity and high-quality grooves, has made it a crucial and highly sought-after item, with a median value for of £366.88. | Discogs Photo Sales Related topics: BoostMusicAlbumsVinylMoney

The Secret to Puffy Skin Relief: Everything You Need to Know About Gua Sha

Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. Look to any social feed, and you'll probably run into someone preaching about the skincare wonder that is gua sha. The longtime form of Traditional Chinese medicine has made its way into the hands of, well, everyone—and for good reasons. With promises to increase blood circulation, depuff and tighten skin, it's no wonder everyone is excited to get their hands on this tool. But while it may look simple in a 30-second TikTok video, the history, benefits, and skills needed to get the most out of your facial tools needs a little more explaining, which is why we reached out to four skincare experts: Founders of YINA, Dr. Ervina Wu and Angela Chau Gray, CEO and Co-Founder of Pink Moon, Lin Chen, and celebrity aesthetician and dermatological nurse Natalie Aguilar for answers on all things gua sha. From how to use your gua sha, to what tools to avoid, it's all here. Here's what to know: The soothing skincare practice has a centuries-old past. The form of traditional Chinese medicine has been used for over 4,000 years, Chen tells As for where it got its name in Chinese, gua means 'to scrape,' and sha means 'petechiae,' which are tiny, flat, red or purple spots on the skin. 'It's commonly used in Chinese medicine to scrape the skin—commonly on the upper back,' explains Wu and Gray. This technique helps 'invigorate blood flow, release heat-toxins, stimulate lymphatic drainage, activate various points of the body, and stimulate an immune response bringing beneficial cells to the area.' In other words: you're actively pressuring your skin to get rid of the unwanted toxins and liquids hiding underneath your skin. The traditional Chinese medicine practice can benefit you in a lot of ways, externally and internally as well. Some of its impressive results include: While gua sha is generally considered safe, potential side effects can include soreness, bruising, and light discoloration. These side effects can happen if you're applying too much pressure to the skin or your skin is dehydrated. Wu and Grey highly recommend seeking out advice and learning the proper techniques from a qualified practitioner to avoid any side effects. Chen's step-by-step routine for gua sha is as follows: And if you're a visual learner, check out YouTuber Gothamista's video on her facial gua sha routine. In the video, she shares the routine and tips her TCM practitioner taught her–and it's incredibly calming to watch. When selecting a gua sha tool, all four experts recommending choose one based on preference to your lifestyle and skill set, but just make sure your tool is made from quality stone like bian, jade, or amethyst. The idea is that the better you like the tool, the more you'll look forward to using it in your skincare routine. But if we want to get technical, when choosing a gua sha tool, the shape is often more important than the type of stone being used. 'Ideally, the tool should be flat, thin, blunt with curved edges,' says Wu and Grey. If you're looking for a beginner's option, we recommend something that's heart-shaped. Its design easily glides over the contours of the face and neck, it's easy to hold, and it won't take up too much room in your makeup bag when traveling. 'Ultimately, you want to find the one that feels comfortable and fits nicely in your hand,' says Aguilar. 'It shouldn't feel awkward or intimidating.' To avoid unwanted friction against your skin when using your gua sha, a hydrating facial oil is key, explains Aguilar. 'When using a gua sha, it's important to find a really nice facial oil, but note that sometimes one may not have a reaction to the gua sha but the oil used,' warns Aguilar. 'Using oils that have too many ingredients, fragrance, or are heavy can cause irritation and breakouts.' Technically, no. This question goes back to the relationship with you and your skin. 'Gua sha can be performed whenever the facial skin feels dull, lackluster, puffy, or tired,' explains Aguilar. If your skin tends to lean more on the sensitive side, the experts recommend not doing it more than three to four times a week. On the other end of the spectrum, if your skin is like mine and doesn't tend to flare up easily, you're safe to do it twice a day or whenever you see fit.

Missed the Strawberry Moon last night? Here's where, when to see it tonight in Illinois

Many people across the country photographed the Strawberry Moon this morning, watching as the moon reached its peak at 2:44 a.m. CT. But don't worry if you missed it – the phenomenon will still be partially visible tonight. Avid skywatchers can also spot the Milky Way, the "bright central bulge of our galaxy," writes NASA, which should be visible through August. Here's what stargazers in Illinois should know. Tuesday, June 10, 2025, into Wednesday early morning hours is when the sweet Strawberry Moon was at its fullest, but it'll still appear mostly full Wednesday night. The moon's phases in June are: 🌓 First Quarter: June 3 🌕 Full Moon: June 11 🌗 Last Quarter: June 18 🌑 New Moon: June 25 June's Strawberry moon will be the lowest full moon in roughly 20 years, so look closer toward the horizon. Experts say the moon's low arc should give it a more yellowish or orange tint. Story continues after photo gallery. The reason the moon will appear lower is because the Earth is in the midst of "a major lunar standstill," writes EarthSky, which has to do with the moon's orbit around the Earth. "It's all about the inclination of the moon's orbit, which undergoes an 18.6-year cycle," writes EarthSky's John Jardine Goss. "The cycle happens because the moon's orbit is being slowly dragged around — mostly due to the pull of the sun — every 18.6 years." The last major lunar standstill occurred in 2006. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, moonrise for the Peoria area will happen by roughly 9:28 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, crossing the meridian at 12:52 a.m. before setting at 5:12 a.m. Thursday. You can check moonrise and moonset times for your zip code by visiting the Old Farmer's Almanac online. Skies in central Illinois are expected to be partly cloudy Wednesday night, June 11, with a low of around 64 and winds around 7 mph, according to an advanced forecast from the National Weather Service. Similar to the Pink Moon, June's Strawberry Moon takes its name from seasonal plant growth, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. Many ripening berries were ready to be harvested around this time in the northeastern United States. Other names for June's full moon from Native American tribes include the Birth Moon, Hot Moon, Blooming Moon, and the Green Corn Moon. The Milky Way can best be viewed somewhere far away from bright city lights. Find a dark, safe spot out in the country where you can see more stars in the sky. State parks and campgrounds are your best bet for clear stargazing, in locations such as Campsite 26 at Apple River Canyon State Park and the Area 4 Parking Lot at Iroquois County State Wildlife Area. A full list of the best stargazing spots in Illinois can be found on the Department of Natural Resources website. For those in Chicago, stars will be more visible on the city lakefront, the Palos Preserves in Willow Springs and the 606 Trail at 1801 N. Ridgeway, according to a list compiled by the Adler Planetarium. If you plan on observing the night sky this month, writes NASA, keep the following dates in mind for June 2025: June 16, 17 – Mars & Regulus – Mars passes closer to the bright bluish-white star Regulus, known as the "heart" of the lion constellation, Leo. They will appear about as far apart as the width of the full moon, and should be easy to spot with binoculars or a small telescope. June 19 – Moon & Saturn – The third-quarter moon appears right next to Saturn on Thursday morning in the hours before dawn, according to NASA. They rise in the east together at around 1:30 a.m. June 20 – June Solstice – The summer solstice is on June 20 in the northern hemisphere, tilting its maximum toward the Sun. This means the Sun will travel its longest, highest arc across the sky all year, writes NASA, resulting in the longest period of daylight for those north of the equator. June 21-30 – Mercury becomes visible – For those with a clear view to the western horizon, Mercury becomes visible for a brief period each evening at the end of June. Look for it to appear low in the sky starting 30 to 45 minutes after the Sun sets. June 22 – Moon & Venus – Venus rises this morning next to a slender and elegant crescent moon. Look for them in the east between about 3 a.m. and sunrise. All month – Mars: The Red Planet can be observed for a couple of hours after dark all month. It is noticeably dimmer than it appeared in early May, as Earth speeds away in its orbit, putting greater distance between the two worlds. All month – Milky Way core: The bright central bulge of our home galaxy, the Milky Way, is visible all night through August. It is best observed from dark sky locations far from bright city lights, and appears as a faint, cloud-like band arching across the sky toward the south.
