Pinpoint Weather Alert: Unbearable heat this weekend

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Welcome to the weekend! It is a Pinpoint Weather Alert weekend, as today marks the start of a potential multiple-day 100-degree heatwave. Temperatures this morning are starting in the 70s, but it will be a very quick warm-up today. Expect temperatures to rise into the late morning hours today, with high temperatures around 100 degrees later this afternoon. The soupy atmosphere we have in place will allow for feels-like temperatures between 105-111 degrees. Most of the region is under heat advisories or extreme heat warnings, with the exception of the mountains. High temperatures in the high country will land in the mid-80s, but it could feel like near 90 at times for our friends in the mountains. Sunday's forecast will be a copy and paste of today's. Expect a warm and muggy start, with temperatures in the 70s. Another quick warm-up on Sunday, with high temperatures once again near 100 degrees and feels like temperatures between 105-111 degrees. More heat alerts are likely for Sunday. Cooling rain will be few and far between this weekend, with only spotty shower/storm chances. This major heat stretch will continue through next Thursday, with high temperatures in the upper 90s and near 100 degrees, along with hit or miss showers or storms. We will cool down by next Friday, as a cold front will bring much-needed relief to the area. Please be safe by taking it easy out in this heat. Hydrate, limit time outdoors, and find shade when you can! Take care of yourself and each other. Check on neighbors, especially the elderly or sick. Have a great weekend!Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. Solve the daily Crossword

Pinpoint Weather Alert: Hot & muggy on Saturday, strong PM storms possible

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good Saturday morning, and welcome to the weekend! We are tracking what will be quite a hot and muggy weekend, with a few thunderstorm chances during the afternoon and evening. A very summerlike pattern. Temperatures are starting in the mid- to upper 60s and lower 70s this Saturday morning, with highs expected to possibly crack the 90-degree mark for the first time this year later Saturday in many locations. Be sure to drink plenty of water and find as much shade as possible throughout the day. Saturday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert, as there will be a few hit-or-miss showers and storms that pop up during the afternoon. A storm or two this afternoon may contain gusty winds and small hail. Have the Pinpoint Weather App handy if you are out at any of the numerous outdoor events scheduled across the Queen City News viewing area this weekend. The better chance for more widespread storm chances will arrive late Saturday evening, as a decaying complex of storms moves into the region. Model data as of this morning is showing a weakening trend with that line of storms as it moves into the Carolinas tonight around 8-9 pm. However, frequent lightning and isolated damaging wind gusts are possible late this evening. Conditions will dry out tonight, but we will stay warm and muggy, with lows only falling into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Anticipate another hot and muggy day for Sunday. Temperatures will surge into the mid to upper 80s for the afternoon. Although we will not be tracking another complex of storms for Sunday, there will be another chance for pop-up showers and storms during the afternoon, before tapering off by the evening. Damaging wind gusts will once again be the top concern with any storms that become strong to severe on Sunday, but it is an isolated threat. This general summerlike pattern will continue for much of next week. Hot and humid conditions, with general afternoon pop-up showers or thunderstorm chances most 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. More clouds on Friday ahead of active weekend for weather

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Even with more clouds on Thursday, temperatures still managed to climb into the mid 70s. We'll have a similar day Friday, with clouds and only a little sun. There's a slightly better chance we could get a stray shower by evening, but most will stay dry. Tracking: Damaging winds, isolated tornado possible this weekend in NC The weekend is still set to give us more active weather. Expect a mostly cloudy Saturday with again — only a small shower chance. The wind will start to get gusty as the next strong storm system approaches. After midnight Saturday night, we could start to see the intense storms and wind moving into the mountains, then progressing east through the Charlotte metro from about 6-9 a.m. or so. Keep checking in for updates as the timing could change a bit.
