WARNING – Graphic content: Video released by Toronto Police shows a mass shooting at the Piper Arms pub in Scarborough on March 7. Toronto police say they've arrested 10 people and laid more than 200 charges in connection with several violent incidents across the GTA, including a mass shooting at a Scarborough pub. Police say that they began an investigation on March 7 following a shooting at Piper Arms Pub, where three suspects allegedly opened fire with an assault-style rifle and two handguns A dozen people were injured at the pub, including nine who were shot. All victims survived, though police say some sustained life-altering injuries. In a news release on Wednesday, police said that investigators were able to establish 'connections' between the pub shooting and several other previously unsolved shooting and firearm discharge incidents in Toronto, including shootings at tow truck yards in the city. Those incidents all took place between March and May. Of the 10 people taken into custody, three are facing charges specifically related to the pub shooting while the others are charged in connection with separate incidents. One of the suspects who was allegedly involved in the pub shooting is also facing charges in connection with three separate shooting incidents that took place in Scarborough three days prior, injuring three people. 'We don't know if the pub shooting is connected to the others. Where it is connected is the group of people that we identified as being part of the tow truck shootings have also done the pub shooting,' Supt. Paul MacIntyre told reporters. Surveillance video of some of the other incidents was released by police on Wednesday. The footage shows gunmen firing in public areas, including a tow yard, a gas station, and a commercial plaza. Police also released footage from inside the pub that showed the suspects firing indiscriminately. MacIntyre called the incidents a 'terrifying series of events' involving suspects who 'opened fire in public spaces, seemingly without hesitation.' Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw said officers 'left no stone unturned' and vowed they'd continue to use 'every tool' to combat gun violence. The investigation remains active and police are urging anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers. Scarborough pub issues statement 8 days after mass shooting

Just over a week after three masked men walked into a Scarborough, Ont., pub and opened fire on the crowd inside, the establishment has issued a statement saying the business is co-operating with the police investigation and its "thoughts are with everyone affected." On March 7, Piper Arms Pub, located near Scarborough Town Centre, was celebrating its opening night when three masked men walked and opened fire indiscriminately. No one was killed, but 12 people were injured. The suspects fled and remain outstanding. On Saturday, the pub issued a statement to its Instagram account. "We are heartbroken over what happened at our Scarborough Town Centre location on what was supposed to be a special opening night for our team and the community," the statement reads. "This kind of violence has no place in our community." Toronto police are investigating the incident. In an email Saturday, a police spokesperson said there is still no update on the suspects or a possible motive. Police searching for three attackers after 12 wounded in Toronto shooting

Police in Toronto say they are searching for three men suspected of taking part in a shooting that wounded at least 12 people at a pub in the Canadian city. The masked gunmen opened fire at the Piper Arms Pub on its opening night on Friday, according to authorities. The attack was the latest incident in a years-long uptick in gun violence in the North American country, which has prompted legislators to freeze the sale of some firearms in recent years. 'They walked into the bar. They produced their guns, and they opened fire indiscriminately on the people sitting inside the bar,' police Superintendent Paul MacIntyre told reporters on Saturday. MacIntyre, who is with the organised crime enforcement unit, added that six of the victims have gunshot wounds that are not life-threatening. He added that the others were injured by broken glass. The motive for the shooting remained unclear, police said. 'Our investigation will tell us whether or not this pub was targeted for a particular reason,' MacIntyre said. 'Maybe somebody was inside that somebody didn't like. Maybe somebody had a beef with the business. We don't know,' he added. The police official told reporters that he had seen the bar's surveillance video of the shooting, which showed people ducking for cover or falling on the floor after being struck. 'This is a reckless act of violence that has shaken our community and city,' he said, adding that the police will leave 'no stone unturned' in finding the suspects. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said on the social media platform X that she was 'deeply troubled' to hear about the shooting at the pub and added that the police chief had assured her 'all necessary resources have been deployed.' Violent crime involving guns has increased by 81 percent since 2009, according to the Canadian government. In December 2022, five people were killed and another wounded in a shooting in the suburbs of Toronto. The surge in gun violence has prompted the government to recently ban more kinds of handguns and other firearms. In April 2020, a gunman disguised as a policeman killed 22 people in the eastern province of Nova Scotia, Canada's worst mass shooting. The country banned 1,500 types of military-grade or assault-style firearms days after the Nova Scotia shooting.

In an update on X early Saturday, police said three men were suspected of the shooting and that all resources were being deployed to locate and arrest those responsible. Police said 12 people were hurt, including six people with non-life-threatening injuries, but the extent of the remaining injuries was still unknown. The victims in the shooting were from their 20s to mid-50s. Images from the scene showed a large presence of emergency vehicles, while CCTV camera footage showed first responders wheeling one patient onto an ambulance, NBC News reported. The outlet also said armed police were on the scene. Olivia Chow, the mayor of Toronto, said she had spoken to Myron Demkiw, the police chief, and was told 'all necessary resources' had been deployed. 'This is an early and ongoing investigation – police will provide further details,' she wrote on social media. 'My thoughts are with the victims and their families.'
