These Boho Boots Will Be Fall's Status Shoe

Nothing fires up Google's algorithm quite like talk of the return of skinny jeans, but for fall/winter 2025 designers are conspiring to relaunch another dormant Noughties trend: slouchy boho boots that puddle around the ankles and fold over the calves. Seen on the likes of Kate Moss and Sienna Miller back in the day, the style also has a touch of swashbuckling Jack Sparrow about it (another Noughties icon). Sienna Miller in Moss in on the fall/winter 2025 runways, Ralph Lauren and Zimmermann took a more subtle approach via elegant knee-high leather boots with buccaneer buckle detailing and a slight scrunch. Others went full-on pirate, with boots big enough to fill with loot – at Balmain the crumpled-up boots were so cavernous you could fit another leg in there, and some even had hidden coin purses concealed in the folds, where you can quite literally hide your treasure. Louis Vuitton leaned into boho Noughties nostalgia with its sheepskin-lined studded boots that rippled over the ankle (very Sienna Miller circa 2003). Other styles, meanwhile, had a sleeker leg with a fold over the top, in true Three Musketeers fashion. Ralph Lauren AW25. Zimmermann AW25. Alessandro Viero One of the precursors for this revival has been the renewed interest in Vivienne Westwood's famous Pirate boots, which were designed in the '80s, but later defined Noughties style. Earlier this summer, Haim recreated an image of Kate Moss leaning against a car in the buckled, scrunched-up boots. They featured in Westwood's first runway show, Pirate, in the autumn/winter 1981 season, where they were styled with smock shirts and admiral boots. 'Malcolm and I didn't want to be seen as token rebels,' the designer later said of that collection. 'We wanted to get off this island and plunder the world, like pirates.' Louis Vuitton AW25. Balmain AW25. Another brand that will always be aligned with this style of boot is boho pioneer Isabel Marant. Earlier this month Vogue declared that 'Isabel Marant feels so right for now,' noting that even the wedge sneaker has seen a 1,580% spike in searches on eBay year on year. Another longtime Marant signature is suede boho boots that look like they have been squished, with the fabric scrunching and pooling around the ankle. Onitsuka Tiger AW25. Armando Grillo White leather slouchy boots couldn't be more '80s, but for this autumn, boots are realized in richer shades such as chestnut, black, grey and burgundy. These boots also lend themselves to the Noughties boot tuck, which started bubbling up on the street-style scene this February. 'I'm living by my own mantra that skinny jeans walked so jeans in boots could run,' Vogue's Julia Hobbs explained in February. 'What started as a tongue-in-cheek take on 2010s 'date-night dressing' has become my everyday uniform.' And any of these boots, wherever they fall on the pirate scale, can house a pair of drainpipes snuggly in the leg. Ahoy autumn! Shop slouchy ankle boots:

Pirate Software responds to viral leaked chats with mod claiming his Twitch Hype Train record was fake

(Image via @PirateSoftware/YouTube) Twitch streamer Jason 'Pirate Software' is at the center of controversy again, this time over accusations that he faked his record-breaking Twitch Subscribers Hype Train by working behind the scenes with a moderator. After leaked Discord chats went public, many questioned if his viral April 2024 achievement was more stunt than celebration. Pirate, however, isn't backing down, and he's not mincing words either. Pirate Software defends viral Hype Train as messages with mod leak online On July 19, 2025, screenshots of Discord messages began making the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), showing Pirate Software in conversation with a longtime moderator known as Khronos. The leaked Discord exchange shows the two discussing optimal ways to keep a Hype Train running, including mentions of Bits returns and subscriber purchases. The original record, set on April 1, 2024, saw Pirate Software's channel blast through Twitch's Hype Train ceiling, reaching level 106 with over 54,000 gifted subs and 8 million+ Bits. In one of the leaked messages, Pirate allegedly broke down how buying Bits in bulk gives a higher return to the streamer. He also asked if Khronos had made any purchases yet, fueling speculation that the 'viral' moment was actually orchestrated. Pirate Software fires back: 'It's his money. End of story.' Pirate Software was quick to respond on X, where he defended both the record and his moderator. In a sharp post, he clarified: 'Nope. Khronos used his own money to do this and asked if it was ok to do so. He wasn't paid for this or told to do it either. He's a grown a** man and can spend his money in whatever way he chooses.' Streamer explains Bit math and claims no violation of Twitch TOS In a follow-up Twitch stream on July 21, Pirate addressed a now-viral message in which he discussed the '82% return' on bulk Bits purchases. He explained: 'If you purchase 25,000 bits, around 82% of your purchase ends up making it to the streamer… It's not secret info. It's basic math.' He also pushed back at claims that this exchange violated Twitch's Terms of Service: 'That's against the TOS, though? No, it is not against TOS… That in no way was triggered by me nor was he compensated for that or reimbursed for it.' His stance? Sharing tips on how to support a stream more efficiently doesn't equate to orchestrating a fake moment. Pirate Software Just Got Caught Viral backlash grows, but so does Pirate's fan support While critics claim the leaked chats paint a shady picture, Pirate's loyal followers argue he's just being transparent. Comments across Reddit and X are split, some praising his honesty, others questioning the ethics of high-level community spending. Still, Pirate Software's Hype Train moment remains one of Twitch's most-talked-about achievements, now carrying a new wave of attention, memes, and hot takes. Desperate Yankees Urged To Avoid Reunion With $15 Million Infielder

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New York Yankees desperately need to add an infielder to fill in at third base. The hot corner has been a massive hole in the Bronx for weeks now, and the front office needs to find a solid upgrade before the trade deadline passes by in a week and a half. FanSided's Rucker Haringey recently urged the Yankees to steer clear of a potential trade for Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa to fill the hole at third base. Kiner-Falefa spent two years with the Yankees earlier in his career and was notoriously controversial among fans. SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - JULY 06: Isiah Kiner-Falefa #7 of the Pittsburgh Pirates looks on during the game against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park on July 06, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - JULY 06: Isiah Kiner-Falefa #7 of the Pittsburgh Pirates looks on during the game against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park on July 06, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. The Seattle Mariners won 1-0. More"In sharp contrast to Reynolds, Isiah Kiner-Falefa is a Pirate who is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career. That sets the versatile infielder up as an intriguing trade targets for teams looking for help ahead of the deadline," Haringey wrote. "In theory, the Yankees might see Kiner-Falefa as someone who can provide them more production at shortstop than Anthony Volpe. "The problem with that idea is that Kiner-Falefa doesn't possess enough upside to justify the prospect capital Pittsburgh will require to land him. The Yankees need to keep their powder dry at shortstop to focus on other positions. Kiner-Falefa's defensive weakness would also undo a lot of the good work Cashman and company have done to upgrade their infield gloves. Adding Kiner-Falefa would be a slight upgrade, and it would come very cheap for the Yankees, but it's not the right move to make. The Yankees aren't going to win the World Series if they try to make a bunch of cheap trades at the deadline. Plus, Kiner-Falefa was disliked by a majority of the fan base when he played in the Bronx. He might hit for a solid average now, but his power numbers and defense struggle. He's not the right fit at the hot corner in the Bronx. More MLB: Braves Expected To Consider Trading $73 Million All-Star: Report

Larnach hits two-run HR, Ryan outpitches Skenes as Twins beat Pirates 2-1

MINNEAPOLIS -- Trevor Larnach hit a two-run homer, Joe Ryan outpitched Paul Skenes. and the Minnesota Twins beat Pittsburgh 2-1 on Friday night to hand the Pirates their seventh straight loss. Ryan (9-4) allowed one run and five hits with two walks and five strikeouts in five innings. He threw 54 of his 86 pitches for strikes and has surrendered two runs or fewer in 14 of 18 starts this season. The Twins used five relievers to close it out with Jhoan Duran pitching the ninth for his 15th save in 17 opportunities. Skenes (4-8) allowed two runs and five hits with six strikeouts in five innings. He fanned Matt Wallner looking to end the fourth for his 300th career strikeout. He struck out the side in order in the first on 12 pitches. Skenes threw 53 of 78 pitches for strikes and is winless in his last eight starts dating to May 28 despite allowing two runs or fewer in 17 of 20 outings. Both pitchers had their starts moved up so they would be available to pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game in Atlanta. Pittsburgh took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when Spencer Horwitz singled and scored on a two-out double by Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Byron Buxton beat out a grounder to third leading off the bottom of the inning after Skenes was perfect through three. Larnach hit his 13th homer one out later to put the Twins up 2-1. Hortwitz singled with one out in the ninth and pinch runner Jac Suwinski stole his fifth base to get in scoring position. Duran struck out both Adam Frazier and Kiner-Falefa swinging to end it. Twins shortstop Carlos Correa was helped off the field in the seventh after a collision at second base with the Pirates' Tommie Pham. Skenes is the 17th pitcher in history — and the first Pirate — to reach 300 strikeouts in his first 43 starts. The Twins haven't announced a Saturday starter opposite Pirates RHP Mike Burrows (1-2, 3.63 ERA). ___
