Tour bus catches fire with multiple people on board in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — Multiple units were in a Park-and-Ride lot in Montgomery County after a tour bus went up in flames while more than 10 people were on board. The fire happened shortly before 10:45 a.m. in the 15800 block of Georgia Avenue, near MD-200, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesman Pete Piringer said. Allegany County Public Schools dismissing early due to potential flooding Piringer said nine bus passengers and the driver are safe, while one passenger was taken to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation and non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of a nearby Metrobus helped the people on the tour bus. As of 11:23 a.m., the fire had been put out. In a statement shared with DC News Now, Coach USA wrote: As it relates to the earlier fire on our MTA 201 bus, there were ten passengers and our bus operator when it happened. Our bus operator noticed an issue with a tire which then caused the fire. She was able to pull over safely contact the fire department, get all the passengers and their luggage out safely. She's currently in another bus with the passengers to bring them to their destination. The safety of our customers and team members is of paramount importance, and in this case our operator who's trained for these situations did exactly what was required in ensuring all concerned were safe. Crews rescue 2 people, 2 dogs stranded in Potomac River in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — Officials said two people and two dogs are safe after they were rescued from the Potomac River on Monday night. Pete Piringer, with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said that just before 10:30 p.m. on May 19, a call came in for people lost on a paddle boat in the Potomac River. During the search, officials used a helicopter while crews canvassed the water using Swift Water Boats. Video: Fire rages at mansion-style home in DC About an hour later, Piringer said they located two paddlers and two dogs. He added that they were stranded on a paddle boat after they got lost in the river. The group was relocated to the Seneca Creek boat landing, where they were brought to safety. Several people hurt in 3-vehicle crash in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Several people got hurt in a multi-vehicle crash in Montgomery County on Tuesday. Montgomery, Howard counties reach partnership to extend transit service along US-29 Pete Piringer, spokesperson for the Montgomery County Fire and EMS Department, said crews responded to a three-vehicle crash at around 7:45 p.m. on Connecticut and Knowles avenues. Six people hospitalized after head-on collision on Clara Barton Parkway
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — A two-vehicle crash on Clara Barton Parkway left multiple people hospitalized on Friday afternoon, first responders said. Pete Piringer, spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS), said in a post just before 1:15 p.m. that the collision happened near Cabin John Parkway and the D.C.-Maryland line. The fire, Piringer noted, was well involved and spread to surrounding brush. Six people were taken to the hospital, two of whom had traumatic injuries. Tesla catches fire in Rockville parking garage
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — A Tesla caught fire in a parking garage at Rockville Town Center on Friday afternoon. Pete Piringer with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) said in a social media made shortly after noon that firefighters were responding to reports of an electric vehicle fire.
