St Mogue's musicians to perform for Fleadh Gig Rig in Wexford
The group has been confirmed to play on one of the latest additions to this year's fleadh, the Ardán na Sláine Gig-Rig, which will be located in the St. Iberius Primary School car park within walking distance of Wexford's Main Street. The performers are scheduled to take to the stage at 4.30 p.m. on Thursday, August 7.
The group first got together in March, 2024 and has participated in many concerts, even including the Guinness World Record Tin-Whistle Challenge at the Fleadh last year. Through its events, thousands of euro has been raised for the community and the group wishes to continue to use its talents, enthusiasm and entertainment appeal for the good of the community, whilst enjoying their performances.
In the meantime, as a build up to the Fleadh event and in an effort to raise funds for both Church communities in the Parish of Templetown and in aid of the Pitch Development Fund at Scoil Mhaodhóig Poulfur, the musicians will perform a pre-Fleadh concert in St. Aidan's Church Poulfur on Thursday July 17, at 8 p.m..
It's anticipated that the primary school will soon apply for planning permission for four new classrooms and the pitch will be developed at the early stages of this project. 'The Parents' Council has worked tirelessly all year to raise much needed funds and this additional event is much appreciated by the school community,' said Parents' Council member, Stephanie Roche.
Tickets for the pre-Fleadh event cost €10 and are available from Fethard Post Office on 051 397101, Scoil Mhaodhóig Pouflur 051 397193, through the school Aladdin App and from Parents' Council members. There will be a €5 Tombola on the night.
