Sex offender arrested for being in prohibited area, caught with drugs

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — A sex offender in Greenville was arrested for being in a prohibited area while in possession of drugs. On April 17, 2025, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit began an investigation after receiving information that registered sex offender Jaquez L. Jenkins, 23, of Kinston, had been visiting Eppes Recreational Center in Greenville. Sex offenders are prohibited by N.C. General Statute 14-208.18 from knowingly being at any locations listed in the statute that minors frequent, which includes libraries, arcades, amusement parks, recreation parks, and swimming pools. After investigation, it was determined that Jenkins had visited Eppes Recreation Center three separate times. Warrants were obtained, and Jenkins was charged with three counts of Sex Offender Unlawfully on Premise. Jenkins was located on Friday, June 6, 2025, and sent to the Pitt County Detention Center. After being searched, Jenkins was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He was then charged with Possession of Controlled Substance on Jail Premises. Jenkins was placed under a $40,000 secured bond and was denied bond for a post-release supervision violation. He remains in custody. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Two individuals were arrested by officials with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office for exploiting a minor. The Pitt County Sheriff's Office received information from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) regarding an individual that was in possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). After searching the individual's social media accounts, James Clayton Clark, Jr., 35, of Grimesland, and Madison Kindal Mari, 31, of Dover were identified as suspects. Warrants were obtained for both suspects. Clark was arrested on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, and charged with 27 counts of Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. He was sent to the Pitt County Detention Center without bond. Mari was also arrested on May 14, and charged with two counts of Second-Degree Exploitation of a Minor. She was sent to the Pitt County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond. When Clark was arrested, he already was out on bond after being arrested in November 2024 for similar crimes. Pitt County man re-arrested for additional charges of child sexual abuse

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Law enforcement officers with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office issued additional warrants for a man involved in a sexual exploitation of a minor case. An Internet Crimes Against Children case went to the Major Crimes Unit of the Pitt County Sheriff's Office on February 25. Agents with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation partnered with detectives to find the suspect. James August Samuelson, 44 years old, was arrested on April 17, after detectives executed multiple search warrants. He was charged with fives counts each of 2nd and 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor. The Pitt County Sheriff's Office received another Internet Crimes Against Children case involving Samuelson on May 8. Fifteen additional videos of child sexual abuse material were provided, prompting detectives to add charges. Fifteen counts each of 2nd and 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor were added. Samuelson was arrest on these new charges on May 13. He was taken to the Pitt County Detention Center where he was given a new bond of !,200,000, taking his total bond charges to $1,700,000. PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — A man was arrested by the Pitt County Sheriff's Office May 5, 2025 on multiple drug-related crimes after a three-month investigation. Law enforcement said O'Joshua T. Roberts, of Greenville, initially ran from them before being caught. A search warrant found approximately: 500 grams of cocaine 16 grams of fentanyl 5 pounds of marijuana MDMA tablets Drug paraphernalia Home grow huts for drying plants More than $37,000 Roberts was charged with: Trafficking opium and heroin Trafficking cocaine Possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana Possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver MDMA Maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance Possession of drug paraphernalia Roberts was jailed in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $900,000 secured bond. James August Samuelson, 44 years old and from Farmville, was arrested on April 17 after multiple search warrants were executed. Detectives from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation helped identify Samuelson as the alleged perpetrator. He was charged with 2nd and 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
