Affectionate Pit Bull Is Losing Hope in Shelter Watching Her Neighbors Get Adopted

Affectionate Pit Bull Is Losing Hope in Shelter Watching Her Neighbors Get Adopted originally appeared on PetHelpful. Sadly, animal shelters and rescues being over-capacity isn't exactly breaking news. Economic hardship makes pet ownership more expensive than ever, and populations of stray and feral animals in many cities continue to grow. True, more pet parents are also choosing to adopt, not shop, for a new pet, but shelter dogs like Pretzel are sometimes waiting longer than ever. Pretzel is an adorable 3-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix who's been waiting oh-so-patiently at the Humane Society of Broward County in Florida for her forever person to find her. Although she's been a brave and resilient girl, she's beginning to lose hope after watching so many of her puppy neighbors get adopted. Poor Pretzel! I wish I could reach through the screen and give her a hug, but I know she's in wonderful hands at @humanebroward. She was surrendered to the shelter after raising a litter of puppies, and she's been waiting for someone to treat her like their baby ever since. Needless to say, this precious Pittie girl is more than ready to get adopted. The look on her face when she watches other dogs leave for their forever homes is positively heartbreaking, but her perfect person is out there somewhere. My fingers are crossed that they're just about to find her!Pretzel may have had a rough past, but she's a resilient, affectionate, and playful dog who will thrive in the right forever home. Her ideal person or family will help her gain confidence and feel like part of a family again, no matter how big or small that family may be. She's great with kids, adults, and other dogs, so any family could be her perfect match! Adopting a shelter dog can be a joyful experience, but it also requires plenty of patience and flexibility. Rescue dogs need time to adjust to their forever homes, but after a few weeks, they'll begin to feel completely at home. It's only a matter of time until it's Pretzel's turn to live out her own Happily Ever After! Looking for more PetHelpful updates? Follow us on YouTube for more entertaining videos. Backlash for support to Pakistan: Indians cancel trips to Turkey, Azerbaijan; travel portals report big dip

Indian tourism to Turkey and Azerbaijan had seen substantial growth recently due to better flight connections. (Image source: Freepik) Amidst public calls for ' Boycott Turkey ' and ' Boycott Azerbaijan ', travel bookings to Turkey and Azerbaijan have significantly declined. Major online travel companies have reported numerous cancellations, driven by public reaction to these nations' backing of Pakistan during the recent India-Pakistan tensions. Indian tourism to Turkey and Azerbaijan had seen substantial growth recently due to better flight connections. IndiGo's introduction of direct flights to Istanbul in 2019 and Baku in 2023 contributed significantly to increased travel to these destinations. Data from MakeMyTrip shows bookings dropped by 60% whilst cancellations rose by 250% in the previous week. Similarly, Cleartrip experienced a 260% rise in cancellations. Travel operators have responded by issuing advisories, cancelling package tours and halting bookings to these destinations. "In solidarity with our nation and out of deep respect for our armed forces, we strongly support this sentiment and advise against all non-essential travel to Azerbaijan and Turkey," a MakeMyTrip spokesperson said. "We have already discontinued all promotions and offers on our platform to discourage tourism to these two destinations." EaseMyTrip cofounder Rikant Pittie noted cancellation increases of 22% for Turkey and 30% for Azerbaijan. He indicated that travellers are now selecting alternative destinations such as Georgia, Serbia, Greece, Thailand, and Vietnam. Pittie observed that whilst bookings to affected areas have stopped due to post-ceasefire uncertainties, travel to other regions remains unaffected. He advised customers to consult official sources when planning international travel. Ixigo has halted all bookings to Turkey, Azerbaijan, and China in response to current circumstances. "Respecting the sentiments shared by all Indians at this time, we have suspended all flight and hotel bookings for Turkey, Azerbaijan, and China. Our commitment is to act responsibly and in alignment with our country's broader interests. Blood and bookings won't flow together," Aloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar, cofounders of ixigo said. In response to their 'support' for Pakistan, 'boycott' calls swept social media after Operation Sindoor was carried out. EaseMyTrip reported a 22% increase in cancellations for Türkiye, and 30% for Azerbaijan. 'Indian travellers have expressed strong sentiments over the past one week, with bookings for Azerbaijan and Türkiye decreasing by 60%, while cancellations have surged by 250% during the same period,' a MakeMyTrip spokesperson said. 'In solidarity with our nation and out of deep respect for our armed forces, we strongly support this sentiment and advise against all non-essential travel to Azerbaijan and Türkiye. We have already discontinued promotions and offers on our platform to discourage tourism to these two destinations,' he said. Follow the India-Pakistan ceasefire LIVE updates 'There is a preference shift when it comes to choosing a destination. Bookings to impacted areas have halted due to post-ceasefire uncertainties, while unaffected airports and regions maintain normal operations without major disruptions,' Rikant Pittie, CEO and co-founder, EaseMyTrip, said. 'At EaseMyTrip, we maintain cautious optimism while prioritising traveller safety. We encourage all customers to only refer to reliable information sources, and exercise prudence when making international travel plans. We are currently advising against non-essential travel to affected regions, and have released a formal travel advisory,' Mr. Pittie said. 'Recent geopolitical tensions are substantially affecting travel patterns, with travellers increasingly choosing other destinations, including Georgia, Serbia, Greece, Thailand, and Vietnam,' he said. Travel company Cox and Kings had on May 9 issued a statement on its decision to temporarily pause all new travel offerings to Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Türkiye. 'This decision is driven by our commitment to uphold principles that matter deeply to us and the people of our country. We also advise Indian travellers to exercise discretion and avoid any non-essential travel to these destinations until there is greater clarity and alignment in the broader geopolitical environment,' Karan Agarwal, director, Cox & Kings, had said. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh- (RSS) affiliated Swadeshi Jagran Manch on Wednesday urged the government to impose economic sanctions, suspend civil aviation links, discourage outbound tourism, and re-evaluate diplomatic engagements with Türkiye due to its 'unholy alliance' with Pakistan, which directly compromises India's security. The Swadeshi Jagran Manch urged Indians to avoid travel to Türkiye, and also boycott its products 'in solidarity with the country's soldiers, and in national interest'.

Summer getaways get costlier: Airfares up 10-15% on high demand, supply woes

Air travellers planning getaways during the peak summer months of May and June should brace for higher fares, with domestic ticket prices already up by 10-15% compared to last year, according to data from travel portal EaseMyTrip. Volatile aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices and supply-side constraints are pushing domestic airfares in India skyward, with average ticket costs between major cities and popular holiday destinations seeing a 10-12% year-on-year increase in June. Domestic airfare in May has increased 10-15% from a year ago. Rikant Pittie, CEO & co-founder of EaseMyTrip, attributes the increase in ticket prices to supply-side constraints amid grounded aircraft. "This is largely due to aircraft on ground situation and a reduction in flights by key players, creating supply-side constraints. The overall trend remains upward due to operational constraints, grounded planes and rising fuel expenses," Pittie told Mint. Also read: Rafale brand owner Dassault Aviation share price dips 7% after India-Pakistan ceasefire To be sure, out of a fleet of 818 commercial aircraft in the country, 133 planes are grounded due to engine and supply-chain concerns. Union minister of state for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol informed parliament in March that over 680 aircraft were operational in the country. High-traffic routes such as Delhi–Mumbai, Bengaluru–Delhi, Mumbai–Chennai, Kolkata–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Mumbai continue to see an increase in airfare, per EaseMyTrip. With strong advance bookings, these routes have recorded an average increase of ₹500-600. Ixigo, another travel portal, said that cooler domestic destinations like Shimla, Kullu-Manali and Dehradun are seeing a surge in demand. EaseMyTrip has recorded a rise in average airfare between 20% and 30% from metro cities to these cooler holiday spots. "We're seeing a strong surge in demand for cooler destinations like, Kullu, Dehradun, and Shimla. Flight bookings to these destinations have gone up by 50-100% YoY, this is pushing up ticket prices as passengers are preferring air travel," said Aloke Bajpai, Group CEO, Ixigo. Jyoti Singh Mayal of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) expects a strong summer travel season for the industry. "We are seeing a good demand for both domestic as well as for international destinations. Expect both domestic and international travel to increase 15% YoY this season," said Mayal. She also said that despite tensions between India and Pakistan, both outbound and inbound travel has not seen any impact. She said, 'Though there was a minor hiccup for 2-3 days due to military operations, the confidence among travellers has not decreased." Going International Data by EaseMyTrip and Ixigo suggests that Indians are packing their bags for international destinations mainly across Southeast Asia and Europe. "This year, travellers are showing a growing interest in new destinations like Santorini in Europe and Bora Bora in Oceanic region. Reykjavik in Iceland is also gaining attention, Amsterdam and the Maldives continue to draw visitors," said Pittie "This summer, we're seeing a strong surge in international travel, especially to Southeast Asian destinations like Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Bali, which have seen an average 100–120% YoY spike in bookings. Easy visa policies and affordable travel costs are driving this shift towards more budget-friendly international getaways," said Ixigo's Bajpai. India's Aviation Boom: How Rising Passenger Traffic and Private Jet Growth Are Reshaping the Skies

From record-breaking air travel to the rise of luxury private jets, India's aviation sector is flying into a bold new era of growth and innovation. India's aviation industry is on the cusp of a transformative era — one that promises not just a surge in passenger numbers, but a complete reimagining of the way the nation flies. From bustling commercial airports to the expanding skies of private aviation, India's momentum is setting it apart as a global force to watch. Rikant Pittie, CEO and Co-Founder, EaseMyTrip, believes India's aviation sector is entering a defining phase in its history. 'With air passenger traffic projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 10 percent between 2023 and 2027 — even outpacing China by 2026 — the country is poised to become the world's fastest-growing aviation market," shares Pittie. While China and the US will still be larger markets in absolute numbers, India's trajectory is especially remarkable because of its underlying drivers: a vast, upwardly mobile population and relatively low per capita air travel, suggesting vast untapped potential. Pittie also points out that the evolution isn't just about swelling numbers. 'From pilots training with AI-powered simulators and next-gen aircraft to infrastructure ramp-ups and fleet modernization, India is witnessing a holistic shift in how it approaches aviation," he notes. As a leading online travel platform, EaseMyTrip is not just observing this change but actively participating in it. 'The progress in the aviation and travel sectors is deeply interlinked — one fuels the other. We are encouraged to see how India is not just flying more, but flying smarter," he adds. 'In 2023, India recorded a 21% year-on-year increase in business jet movements, making it the busiest business aviation market in Asia," says Tekriwal. Driven by a booming economy, a growing base of high-net-worth individuals, and a preference for flexible travel options, the Indian business jet market — valued at approximately USD 650.5 million in 2024 — is projected to reach USD 1.14 billion by 2033, growing at a steady CAGR of 6.43%. This vibrant expansion, however, comes with its own set of challenges. A looming pilot shortage threatens to clip the industry's wings. India currently has about 12,000 pilots, but by 2030, it will need over 22,400 pilots — a staggering gap of approximately 10,900 pilots within the next six years. 'The shortage is particularly acute in the private aviation segment, where pilots require specialized training and adaptability for dynamic, non-scheduled operations," warns Tekriwal. Recognizing this critical need, both the government and industry players are taking proactive measures. Initiatives like the evaluation and rating of Flying Training Organizations (FTOs), plans to build dedicated pilot training airports, and the introduction of the Electronic Personnel License (EPL) are all steps aimed at streamlining pilot licensing and strengthening the talent pipeline. 'At JetSetGo, we recognize the strategic importance of cultivating a skilled pilot workforce to sustain and propel the growth of private aviation in India," says Tekriwal. 'We are investing in advanced training programs, emphasizing not only technical proficiency but also the soft skills essential for delivering exceptional service in private aviation." The Future: Flying Smarter, Flying Further India's aviation boom is no longer just a numbers game. It's about smarter technology, stronger infrastructure, enhanced human capital, and a shared vision of excellence. As Pittie articulates, today's pilots are being equipped with cutting-edge tools and training, positioning them as key architects of a safer, more sustainable aviation future. Similarly, Tekriwal envisions a future where India doesn't just meet its domestic aviation demand but also emerges as a global hub for aviation talent, setting benchmarks for the rest of the world. With a dynamic blend of market growth, policy innovation, and industry leadership, India's aviation journey has well and truly taken off — and the world is watching. First Published:
