Hot tub company permanently shut down for scamming Floridians, Attorney General says
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — A hot tub company that scammed Floridians has been permanently shut down by Attorney General James Ethmeier. Revive Spas and More, LLC, and its owners Dylan Placker and Chelsie Placker, of Port Orange, are accused of scamming and deceiving buyers, mispresenting details regarding the products they sold. Increasing number of Florida homeowners say they would skip property insurance: poll 'This company and its owners scammed Floridians by selling damaged, defective, dangerous, and inoperative used hot tubs—causing consumers to lose hard-earned money based on the company's lies,' said Attorney General James Uthmeier. 'Thanks to our Consumer Protection Division, Revive Spas and More and its owners are permanently banned from operating in Florida.' According to the lawsuit, the Plackers ran Revive Spas and More from March 4, 2022, up to Jan. 31, 2024. Since June 2022, the owners received roughly 33 consumer complaints, 10 of those being seniors, ranging from faulty products, dishonored warranties, and refund refusals. The State Attorney's Office (SAO) announced that in the state of Florida, the Plackers can no longer operate any business, receive payment from consumers, work for a person or business involving hot tubs or related products, make any knowingly false or misleading statement, use or sell information acquired from selling a hot tub, or restrict any customer from sharing their opinions about their company. The Plackers were ordered to pay $471,095.50 in court. However, due to their inability to pay this hefty amount, the SAO ordered them to pay $10,849.50 in consumer relief, distributed in pro rata payments.
