PM Shehbaz arrives in Quetta on day-long visit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on Saturday on a day-long visit. The premier e was received by Acting Governor and Speaker Balochistan Assembly Abdul Khaliq Achakzai and Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti. Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Member of the National Assembly Attaullah Tarar are also accompanying the PM. The PM will visit the Command and Staff College in Quetta and will also attend a Grand Jirga.

Upcoming JCC session: Pakistan govt finalises CPEC deliverables after progress reviews
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, chaired a high-level preparatory meeting of the Pakistani side of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC). The meeting convened key stakeholders, including conveners of CPEC Joint Working Groups (JWGs) and secretaries from the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Communications, Maritime Affairs, Science and Technology, Railways, Commerce, and Interior, to review progress and finalise deliverables for the upcoming 14th JCC session. Iqbal conducted a comprehensive review of CPEC project status across vital sectors, including Gwadar development, industrial cooperation, science and technology, transport infrastructure, agriculture, and the blue economy. He mandated all ministries to rigorously operationalise the long-term CPEC plan by ensuring their project roadmaps are fully aligned with established sectoral priorities for effective and result-oriented implementation. JCC under CPEC to meet in June: Agri tech, energy and Gwadar projects discussed The minister instructed the Board of Investment to immediately initiate strategic outreach to 20–25 major Chinese economic zones, aiming to attract experienced companies for Special Economic Zone (SEZ) development and industrial relocation to Pakistan. Emphasising science and technology as the cornerstone of future export-led growth, he directed the Ministry of Science and Technology to study China's advancements in emerging scientific fields, formulate a national scientific development agenda, and identify 10 high-potential export products for targeted research and innovation support. Minister Iqbal underscored Gwadar's critical role as a blue economy hub, demanding accelerated development in coastal tourism, fisheries, and industry through enhanced engagement with Pakistani and Chinese business communities. He also directed officials to finalise a proposal for introducing a third-party participation mechanism under CPEC to facilitate broader infrastructure projects, for presentation and approval at the forthcoming JCC session. Concluding the meeting, Minister Iqbal reiterated CPEC's immense potential for investment, relocation, and joint ventures. He demanded unified, proactive efforts across all government institutions to deliver tangible, actionable outcomes for the JCC. He called for intensified inter-ministerial coordination and strategic planning to ensure the 14th JCC session serves as a landmark event in advancing CPEC 2.0 vision for a prosperous and connected Pakistan. The minister emphasised that CPEC phase-2 is now fully integrated into the broader national transformation vision under the Uraan Pakistan initiative. As a flagship development framework aimed at turning Pakistan into a $3 trillion economy by 2047, Uraan Pakistan provides a clear roadmap through its 5Es: Exports, E-Pakistan, Environment, Energy, and Equity. CPEC phase-2's focus on industrialisation, connectivity, science and technology, and sustainable growth directly complements these pillars. The synergies between Uraan Pakistan and CPEC will not only catalyse economic modernisation but also ensure inclusive, innovation-driven development across all regions of Pakistan. Highlighting the need to deepen business-to-business (B2B) collaboration, Minister Iqbal stressed that private sector partnerships between Pakistani and Chinese companies will be pivotal in CPEC's next phase. B2B cooperation will unlock new avenues for industrial growth, technology transfer, and job creation. It will empower local enterprises, attract FDI, boost exports, and drive innovation in sectors like manufacturing, logistics, energy, agriculture, and ICT. A thriving B2B ecosystem under CPEC phase-2 will also foster entrepreneurship, upskill the workforce, and enhance Pakistan's global competitiveness — transforming economic zones into engines of opportunity and prosperity. Omani Minister of Housing Conducts Official Visit to Diyar Al Muharraq
Diyar Al Muharraq, the largest urban development company in the Kingdom of Bahrain, had the honor of welcoming His Excellency Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al-Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning of the Sultanate of Oman, along with his esteemed delegation, on an official visit aimed at fostering knowledge exchange and exploring best practices within the real estate development sector. His Excellency was received by Mr. Abdulhakeem Yaqoob Al Khayyat, Chairman of Diyar Al Muharraq, and Eng. Ahmed Ali Alammadi, Chief Executive Officer of the company. The visit commenced with a tour of Souq Al Baraha, a traditional-modern marketplace capturing the essence of Bahraini culture while offering a vibrant retail experience that blends heritage, commerce, and community. Continuing their tour, the delegation explored the show villa at Al Bareh, one of Diyar's most exclusive residential communities, characterized by serene waterfront views and contemporary design that combines privacy with tranquility. The visit concluded at Marassi Galleria, the flagship retail and leisure destination hosting a curated selection of global brands, dining outlets, and entertainment facilities, positioning it as a major attraction at the heart of Diyar Al Muharraq. This visit served as a significant platform for meaningful dialogue and mutual learning, during which the Chairman of Diyar Al Muharraq presented a comprehensive overview of the city's strategic vision. The presentation highlighted the key principles that shape Diyar as a model of sustainable urban development, and detailed the advanced approaches adopted in planning and executing integrated residential and commercial projects supported by smart infrastructure that enhances the quality of life in an inclusive urban environment. In return, the Omani delegation shared insightful perspectives and pioneering experiences from the Sultanate in the areas of housing and urban planning. These exchanges fostered a rich and productive dialogue focused on sharing best practices and innovative development models, underscoring the shared commitment to collaboration and the pursuit of common development goals. The visit further emphasized the strong ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman. Al-Mashat Interview Panel for "Women Lead for Executives" Program at NTA
Israa Farhan Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, chaired one of the interview panels on Thursday for applicants to the 'Women Lead for Executives' program, organized by the National Training Academy (NTA) in partnership with the Ministry. This initiative is part of national efforts to qualify women for leadership roles and promote their economic, social, and political empowerment. Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the importance of the 'Women Lead for Executives' program, which is one of the distinguished training programs provided by the NTA in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation. The program targets women in executive positions across various institutions, ranging in age from 22 to 50. She noted that with every round of interviews, she witnesses the advancement in the caliber of applicants and their eagerness to acquire the skills that will enable them to contribute to the prosperity and progress of our beloved nation. The Minister noted that Egyptian women have received significant attention under the leadership of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic. This has been reflected in the launch of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030 and the measures that have enabled women to hold leadership positions that were previously inaccessible. She added that empowering women economically, socially, and politically does not only benefit women themselves, but yields positive results across all aspects of life in Egypt. She further explained that women's empowerment is a key component of the state's efforts to invest in human capital and develop the skills of young men and women, enhancing their ability to assume leadership positions. The state is working to integrate gender equality and women's economic and social empowerment across all development plans. As such, women's empowerment has become a core component of the economic and social development plan, as well as various strategies and programs being implemented in cooperation with bilateral and multilateral development partners. Dr. Al-Mashat added: 'Empowering women economically, socially, and politically is a significant responsibility. Women are required to constantly prove their competence and capability to hold such positions. In addition, they bear a major responsibility in encouraging more women and girls to enter various fields of work, thereby increasing women's participation in the labor market.' Dr. Rasha Ragheb, Executive Director of the NTA, welcomed Dr. Rania Al-Mashat upon her arrival at the Academy headquarters in Giza Governorate. Dr. Al-Mashat and Dr. Ragheb toured the training sessions taking place under the Support for Improvement in Governance and Management (SIGMA) program. This program is part of the effective partnership between the NTA, the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, the European Union, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Minister took the opportunity to motivate the participants in the program, stressing the importance of the partnership between Egypt and the OECD.
