Brunei emphasises sustainable forest management and environmental protection for its future generation
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Brunei emphasised sustainable forest management for both environmental protection and national development, a senior government official has said.
Brunei is fully committed to preserving its valuable forest resources and ensuring that a significant portion of the land is managed sustainably, said Haji Noralinda Ibrahim, deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, at the Asean working group meeting on forestry management held in the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan this week.
She said this dedication supports the country's socio-economic development, conserves biodiversity, and contributes to the global fight against climate change, all in alignment with Brunei's National Forest Policy.
The meeting discussed regional policy guidance and developments towards sustainable forest management, including the key activities that have been implemented for the year 2025-2026 under the Plan of Action for Asean Cooperation on Forest Management 2021-2025.
The implementation of the work plan for strengthening Forest Law Enforcement and Governance was also discussed during the meeting. - Xinhua
