Maia Dunphy claps back at busy body after 'parenting advice'
Maia Dunphy has had enough of the fake do-gooders and has shared a message she received from a follower, with the contents shocking fans. The follower took it upon herself to share some career and parenting advice to the mum-of-one, and even suggested that Maia might be 'lonely'. Needless to say, Dunphy wasn't thrilled to receive such a message and took to social media to share her shock that a woman would send a message like this to another female, and explained how the follower is completely incorrect on all her points. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Maïa Dunphy (@maiadunphy) She captioned the screenshot: 'I brought Tom to a work event this morning, something I often have to do, then there was shopping for new school shoes followed by the trade off of popping into Mark's Models to spend some of his birthday money. 'I have to work again this afternoon from home, and all his friends are away so he'll do some model building and then we're going swimming together! It's a massive juggle at the best of times, but summer is tougher and everywhere are reminders of the 'traditional' family units we're not in. 'I prioritise him over everything, and we do probably spend more time together than most mums and sons on account of our family logistics but that's just the way it is. There isn't another option and I wouldn't change it for the world! Maia Dunphy pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy 'I never shared images of him until he was about 7 or 8, when I was asked to find some kids for a charity photo and he asked could he be in it too, and I decided that was ok. So now I share a bit more of him. The fact is, we're together so much of the time it's pretty hard to share any of my life without sharing bits of him. I'm so lucky, he's the best little human in the world! 'Anyway, there's the preamble. I get sent a few nasty messages here and there, mostly on X and usually from anonymous Baz45825crypto type accounts. But every so often, I get one that stops me in my tracks… like this one from Fiona today. 'I could sit here and list off the ways in which I protect my son, the money I've turned down to use him in campaigns, the things I wouldn't dream of sharing online, etc etc, but I don't need to. The fact that another woman thought it would be a helpful thing to send someone a message like this is baffling!! Maia Dunphy pictured at Liz and Noel's Chernobyl Lunch 2025 to raise funds for Adi Roche's Chernobyl Children International Charity Pic: Brian McEvoy 'I could break down the psychology behind it, how it shows a very innate sense of superiority and passive aggressive judgmental nature (she must be a real joy to live with!) but really I just want to tell her to f*** off. So f*** off Fiona.' Needless to say her comments were soon flooded with support, with Ireland AM's Muireann O'Connell writing: 'Exhausting,' and former RTÉ weather presenter Joanna Donnelly sharing: 'We all get messages from Fiona's.' 'They mean well and would be horrified to find out that they're not only wrong and misguided they are also hurtful and unhelpful. You be you in this brave new world. Xx' Maia replied to Joanna, saying: 'I just don't understand how anyone could think messaging a stranger to tell them they're lonely and not getting parenting right could be received as well-meaning!'

Who will be the new Joe Duffy?
The date for potential presenters to apply for the position of Host of the RTE Flagship show ended today while the search for the new Joe Duffy rolls on. The national broadcaster had opened an 'expressions of interest' portal for hopefuls to submit their applications to take over from Joe Duffy who retired last week. And while RTE have identified a number of candidates, both internally and externally, there could be some wild cards thrown into the mix when they assess the submissions lodged through their jobs portal. Joe Duffy. Pic: Michael Chester As we revealed last week bosses at Montrose are keen to parachute in a number of household names over the next few weeks to test, live on air, how they fare hosting the show. An RTÉ source said Montrose bosses have identified five potential internal candidates to take over Duffy's coveted Radio 1 programme. Miriam O'Callaghan and Joe Duffy. Pic: Michael Chester These include the Drivetime duo Sarah McInerney and Cormac Ó hEadhra, regular Liveline stand-in Katie Hannon, Saturday show presenter Colm O'Mongáin, and Countrywide host Philip Boucher-Hayes, who has been standing in for Duffy all this week. Sarah McInerney pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy After Boucher-Hayes, three of his RTÉ radio colleagues will get their chance to impress in the Liveline hotseat, RTE confirmed last night. It is understood Katie Hannon has already done enough while filling in to stake her claim. Sources also said a 'serious shake-up' of RTÉ's Radio 1 stable is on the cards. One RTÉ insider told 'The race is on! There is a serious shake-up coming, especially in relation to Drivetime.' Sarah McInerney and Cormac Ó hEadhra. Photo by Ruth Medjber @ruthlessimagery 'So bosses here want to kind of sound out how they [McInerney and O hEadhra] do on Liveline.' But the portal could throw up a few dark horses meaning this race is by no means a one-horse presenting pony. Joe Duffy presenting his final farewell show in Studio 1 at the RTÉ Radio Centre. Jennifer Zamparelli says 'nobody can take over' from Joe Duffy as she revealed whether she would be expressing interest in the Liveline gig. The countdown is well and truly on for a major change at RTÉ as Joe prepares to step down from Liveline after 27 years at the helm. Duffy will present his final show on Friday, June 27, in what is sure to be an emotional day. His farewell party is set to take place in the Duke Pub in Dublin City Centre right after the show. Joe Duffy. Pic: Mary Browne via RTÉ Speculation has been growing over who will replace Duffy, with bookies tipping the likes of Katie Hannon, whose current affairs show Upfront has just been scrapped by RTE, to take over. Oliver Callan, who currently hosts the 9am to 10am slot on RTÉ Radio One, is also gaining serious momentum as the next potential presenter of the iconic phone-in show. Speaking on Oliver Callan's show on Thursday, former 2FM star Jennifer Zamparelli, whose name has also been thrown into the mix, made it clear where she stands on the matter. Pic: Brian McEvoy Despite previously telling The Irish Sun that she'd be 'mad' not to consider the role, she now told Oliver: 'Absolutely not. No interest, no.' The Dancing with the Stars host added: 'My view is that nobody can take over from Joe.' The RTÉ star left her radio gig with 2FM early in 2024 alongside a host of other big names, including The 2 Johnnies, Donncha O'Callaghan and Doireann Garrihy, who has since returned. Jennifer Zamparelli and husband Lauterio. Pic: Jennifer Zamparelli/Instagram The mother-of-two previously revealed that she was 'content' following her departure and now had some time where she could audition and make room for other exciting projects. Opening up about her 2FM departure on Thursday, Jennifer told Oliver: 'I did nothing initially. As women, we feel that we need to be doing all things, all the time, we must be busy.' The Dublin native also revealed she was surprised at the reaction of her children, Florence and Enzo, whom she shares with husband Lauterio, when she told them she was leaving radio. She said: 'Their reaction was quite surprising, because I've been in radio for 10 years and I've always worked in telly and radio, since they were alive,' adding that Florence was 'disappointed'. 'I was like 'oh my God, did I make the right decision?' You just can't win with kids, you absolutely can't.' Jennifer added: 'I miss it. I miss being on air. I miss the interaction with people, I miss the craic, I miss my team. But do I have any regrets? I don't think so, because I've been able to do so much other stuff.' Among the 'other stuff', of course, is Jennifer appearing in The Rocky Horror Show when the beloved musical returns to the Gaiety Theatre in August. The presenter and comic joins Jason Donovan who will return to the role of Frank N'Furter for the stage production.

Those things help so much." Lottie added: "Big events are s***." Bonnie replied: "Yeah that is. At the end of the day, obviously the big events that you miss are going to be hard.
