The Dutchman has toiled all season and it wan another embarrassing exit in Germany Toiling Michael van Gerwen's torturous campaign has continued at the Euros while rival Andrew Gilding was left grounded by an airport nightmare. The three-times world champ Dutchman made another miserable early exit when beaten 6-5 by young German prospect Dominik Gruellich in Hildesheim. It was the sixth time Van Gerwen, who has yet to win a night in this year's Premier League, has been knocked out at the first stage of a darts ProTour in 2025 as he struggles to recapture his best form ahead of Thursday's Premier League night in Aberdeen. But at least the Green Machine was able to get a throw as Gilding was left marooned and absent from the event due to flight issues. Goldfinger didn't make it to Players Championship 15 following a flight botch as his social-media team explained: 'Due to KLM'S last flight yesterday afternoon being delayed by two hours. "Andrew would of missed his connecting flight to Hannover. They rebooked him on this morning 9am flight, but he will miss playing in today's Players Championship 15 in Hildesheim.' It's a sore one for Gilding who made it to the Final of the European Darts Grand Prix last week before losing 8-0 to Gary Anderson., who got through his opening match of the day with a 6-2 win over Rob Owen.
