The Next Pokémon TCG Pocket Expansion Brings Ultra Beasts Next Week
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The Pokémon Company has announced the next expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket, and it's set to launch next week in the app. The new expansion is called Extradimensional Crisis, and it's a themed booster pack, meaning it's limited to a single booster pack – rather than two like full expansions – and is likely to add around 100-150 cards to the game. Extradimensional Crisis will add Ultra Beast Pokémon cards to Pokémon TCG Pocket, strange creatures from another dimension that have a special designation in the TCG. Key artwork for the Extradimensional Crisis expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket, showing a number of Ultra Beasts emerging from an Ultra Wormhole. The Pokémon Company A number of Ultra Beast cards were revealed in a press release accompanying the announcement, including some Pokémon ex cards, regular cards designated as an Ultra Beast card, and even full art variants of the Pokémon. Other related cards, like Type: Null and Pokémon ex versions of Guardian Pokémon like Tapu Koko, were also revealed to be coming to the game. More Trainer cards are coming in the new set, too, with a Lusamine card revealed in the expansion's trailer. It's likely that these cards will interact and engage with Ultra Beast cards, allowing greater flexibility than Trainer cards that require specific types or even specific Pokémon to be effective. The Lusamine card, for example, allows you to take two random energy from your discard pile and add it to an Ultra Beast card on your field. The expansion comes after the introduction of Alolan Pokémon in the last full TCG Pocket set, which was titled Celestial Guardians and focused on Pokémon and trainers introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Ultra Beasts were also introduced in those games, so it seems as if Extradimensional Crisis acts as further expansion of the Celestial Guardians set. The Extradimensional Crisis expansion will be released in Pokémon TCG Pocket on May 29, 2025. A number of events themed around the expansion will also be added to the game following its introduction, including solo battle events, Wonder Pick events, and Mass Outbreak events:

Pokémon Is About To Make So Much Money On Life-Sized Eeveelution Plushies
Due to some questionable picks, the Pokémon Company's life-size plush line has often been the subject of meme fodder. The helpful Lucario plush is here to steal your wife by doing the household chores you neglect. The Porygon is big enough to be a piece of furniture. And, well, what do you need a life-sized Gardevoir plush for? But sometimes, the choices make perfect sense. The next life-sized Pokémon plush won't be just one of these critters; it will be nine—all nine Eevee evolutions, to be exact. Eevee is one of the most popular Pokémon in the series. Part of what makes the little fox-like creature so beloved is that it can evolve into one of eight (for now) forms, based on different energies. Everyone has a different favorite 'Eeveelution' and there are a lot of fans who love the whole line so much that they'll buy all of their merchandise in a set. Well those sickos better be ready to pay a pretty penny for the life-sized Eevee evolution plushies. At the moment, the nine plushies have only been announced for sale on the Japanese Pokémon Center website, but these do tend to make their way overseas shortly after. According to PokéShopper, the Japanese sale for Eevee, Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon runs until May 19. The Eevee plush, which is much smaller than its evolutions, costs 3,850 yen (roughly $27), while the larger fully-evolved plushies are 44,000 yen (around $306). That means collecting the whole range would cost you almost $2,500. Click through the gallery to see them in all their life-sized glory. Update, 4/25/25, 10:42 a.m. Eastern: The plushies are now on sale on the U.S. Pokémon Center they're a whopping $400. Good luck to your wallets. These enormous plushies are part of The Pokémon Company's 'Year of Eevee,' which is celebrating the fox-like Pokémon and all its evolutions with new merchandise. While there is no official tease or announcement, fans are hopeful that a year dedicated to Eevee might culminate in a new Eeveelution at some point. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is bringing back Mega Evolutions and returning to Kalos, the fairy-type Sylveon's home region. So even if we don't get a new Eeveelution, part of me wonders if a Mega Evolution is in the cards. For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Pokémon TCG Pocket's Next Expansion is Coming Next Week and Focuses on Alola
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The Pokémon Company has just announced a new expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket, Celestial Guardians, which is set to be released next week, on April 30, 2025. Celestial Guardians will be a full expansion like Genetic Apex and Space-Time Smackdown rather than a limited themed expansion like the recent Shining Revelry and Triumphant Light sets. It will launch with two booster packs to open, one for Solgaleo and one for Lunala, the signature Legendary Pokémon from Pokémon Sun and Moon. Key artwork for the Celestial Guardians expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket featuring Solgaleo and Lunala. Key artwork for the Celestial Guardians expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket featuring Solgaleo and Lunala. The Pokémon Company The Celestial Guardians expansion will have a big focus on Alolan Pokémon, including the aforementioned Legendary Pokémon, the Alolan first partner Pokémon – Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio – and Alolan forms like Alolan Raichu and Alolan Meowth. It also features Pokémon originally found in Alola, such as Oricorio, which will have its various forms available as separate cards. The new expansion's trailer also revealed Trainer cards focused on Trial Leaders from Pokémon Sun and Moon, with effects focused on most available types in the game right now, although they seem to be primarily focused on specific Pokémon cards rather than the type archetypes as a whole. Celestial Guardians will also bring with it the first Immersive Full Art card based on a Trainer card, with a card based on Lillie shown in the trailer. In addition to the new expansion, The Pokémon Company also revealed in a press release that a new event is coming to the game next week to celebrate Pokémon TCG Pocket's six-month anniversary. This event, which runs from April 29 to May 12, 2025, will give players the opportunity to earn multiple Rayquaza ex Promo cards, as well as additional cosmetics and other Promo cards. The Pokémon Company previously promised to overhaul Pokémon TCG Pocket's controversial trading system, which was met with backlash upon its introduction earlier this year. The changes were said to be coming prior to the end of Fall 2025, and will change the required items for trading and at some point expand the cards available to trade, including the addition of higher rarity cards and limited-time Promo cards. It's unknown at this stage if the changes to trading will be available alongside Celestial Guardians, or if they'll come at a later date.
