Dubai Police Launches Comprehensive Security Plan for Safe and Joyful Eid Al Adha
Dubai's Event Security Committee has confirmed full readiness to ensure a safe, smooth, and celebratory Eid Al Adha across the emirate, with an extensive security and transportation plan backed by multiple government entities. Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Acting Chairperson of the Committee, announced that security operations will cover all mosques and grand prayer grounds. Hundreds of patrols and support units, including 515 security patrols, 139 ambulatory points, two helicopters, five rescue boats, and four command rooms, will be deployed across Dubai. In collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority, the plan also boosts transportation services to accommodate holiday crowds. Over 16,000 limousines, nearly 14,000 taxis, 1,240 buses, and 104 metro trains will be in operation. Seven transport control centres will monitor traffic, supported by traffic diversion units and marine transport vehicles. Healthcare readiness is also part of the plan, with 18 hospitals and clinics on standby, coordinated by a central health operations centre. Al Mazroui urged the public to call 999 for emergencies only and use 901 for non-urgent matters. He also encouraged reporting violations through the Dubai Police 'Police Eye' platform. Emphasizing public safety, he warned against reckless driving, particularly speeding, and advised jet ski users to avoid family zones along the beaches. He called on parents to supervise children in public areas and strictly avoid fireworks, citing serious injury risks and fire hazards. To foster a festive atmosphere, Dubai Police will also host sports competitions for workers in areas including Jebel Ali and Al Quoz during the first two evenings of Eid. The committee reaffirmed its commitment to a secure and joyous celebration for all residents and visitors. News Source: Dubai Media Office

Dubai Police arrest 127 beggars with Dhs50,000
Dubai Police, in collaboration with police stations, arrested 127 beggars during the first half of Ramadan, in possession of over Dhs50,000 in cash. This was part of the "Fight Begging" campaign launched by the Dubai Police General Command in cooperation with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Dubai Municipality, and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai. Colonel Ahmed Al Adidi, Deputy Director of the Department of Suspects and Criminal Phenomena, emphasised that the campaign contributes to reducing the number of beggars annually as Dubai Police implement a comprehensive security plan to combat begging in collaboration with partners by intensifying patrols in areas where beggars are likely to be present. Al Adidi noted that begging is often linked to other crimes such as theft, pickpocketing, and the exploitation of children, patients, and people of determination for illegal gains. He highlighted that there are official entities, organisations, and charitable associations where individuals can seek financial assistance or support, such as meals for fasting individuals. Captain Abdullah Khamis, head of the anti-begging section, urged the public not to respond to beggars' pleas or show sympathy toward them. He encouraged immediate reporting of any beggar sightings to the contact centre (901) or through the "Police Eye" service available on the Dubai Police smart app. Reports can also be submitted via the (E-Crime) platform, which handles public complaints related to cybercrimes, accessible at

Dubai Police nabs 33 beggars in first 10 days of Ramadan
Dubai Police has arrested 33 beggars of various nationalities in the first ten days of Ramadan as part of their anti-begging campaign, aiming to maintain the country's dignified image and prevent illegal begging activities. Colonel Ahmed Al Odaidi, Deputy Director of the Suspects and Criminal Phenomena Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, highlighted the success of 'A Conscious Society, Free of Beggars' campaign in curbing the rise of beggars each year. 'This campaign has effectively reduced the number of beggars each year, thanks to strict measures taken against those apprehended. In the first ten days of the holy month, the campaign resulted in the arrest of 33 beggars from various nationalities,' Colonel Al Odaidi stated. He added that patrols have been increased in areas where begging is common, and authorities continue to monitor deceptive tactics used to gain public sympathy, including online begging. Police warn that beggars may exploit children, patients, or people of determination to solicit money, while cases of women begging with children have also been reported. Begging is a criminal offense in the UAE, punishable by imprisonment of up to three months and a fine of AED 5,000. Dubai Police are urging residents to refrain from giving money to beggars and instead donate through official charitable organizations that provide financial assistance to those in need. 'Official entities and charitable organisations are available for those needing financial assistance or services like 'Iftar for the Fasting,'' Al Odaidi said. Dubai Police urges the public to donate through official charities instead, and report beggars via 901, the 'Police Eye' app, or the 'E-crime' platform.

Caught on camera: Dubai Police snap BMW driver with child on his lap
A motorist in Dubai has been caught on camera driving with a child on his lap, putting both their lives at risk. The male driver of a BMW was summoned by the police and his vehicle was impounded after the serious traffic violation was picked up by Dubai Police's artificial intelligence-powered radar systems. Federal Traffic Law prohibits children under the age of 10 or those less than 145cm tall from sitting in the front seat of a moving vehicle. Driving in a way that poses a danger to a driver's life or the lives and safety of others can result in a Dh2000 fine and 23 black points according to Dubai Police's website. Maj Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of the General Traffic Department at Dubai Police, said that allowing children to sit in the front of a vehicle exposes them to the risk of serious injury or death in an accident. A child could be thrown out of the vehicle by the force of the collision, as airbags and front seat belts are designed for adults. Dubai Police recently announced the installation of traffic cameras that can detect 17 traffic violations, including drivers failing to wear seat belts or modifications to make vehicle engines louder. The cameras capture videos of the offences. Members of the public are encouraged to report traffic violations using the Police Eye service on the Dubai Police smartphone app, or by calling 901. Speeding biker hits 330kph: In February, a motorcyclist was arrested after reaching speeds of 330kph on one of Dubai's busiest motorways. The speed limit on Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) is 120kph. The motorcyclist filmed himself weaving through traffic at 190pkh before reaching 330kph. Using two phones at the wheel: In November, cameras in Dubai helped police catch a driver using two mobile phones at once, and another reading a newspaper while on the road. In a video posted on their social media channels, Dubai Police said their technology could detect violations even if a vehicle's windscreen is tinted. Drivers arrested for pulling stunts in the rain: In 2023, a group of drivers were arrested after being filmed performing dangerous stunts in a rain-soaked car park. A viral video on social media showed a black 4x4 and a Toyota pickup doing doughnuts and drifting on the wet surfaces.

Dubai Police cracks down on illegal street vendors
Dubai Police has intensified efforts to combat illegal street vending during Ramadan. Ten vendors have been arrested for selling food products in public areas without proper licences and operating in unhygienic conditions. The crackdown is part of the ongoing 'A Conscious Society, Free of Beggars' campaign. Colonel Ahmad Al Adeedi, Deputy Director of the Suspects and Criminal Phenomena Department, said that such illegal activities not only breach safety standards but also create unsightly makeshift markets in public spaces, particularly near labour accommodation areas. Health concerns are also significant, as unregulated food products are often stored and sold under unsafe conditions, increasing the risk of foodborne illnesses. Major Talib Al Amiri, Head of the Street Vendors Control Section, urged the public to avoid purchasing from unauthorised vendors and instead rely on licensed businesses to ensure food safety. Dubai Police continues to patrol areas around the clock, working with partner authorities to crack down on violations. Residents are encouraged to report any illegal vending activities through the 901 Call Centre or the 'Police Eye' service on the Dubai Police App. #News | Dubai Police Cracks Down on Illegal Street Vendors Violating Public Health Regulations Details: #CombatBegging #SafetyAndSecurity #RamadanInDubai — Dubai Policeشرطة دبي (@DubaiPoliceHQ) March 11, 2025
