Bahraini Officer Joins Diploma
TDT | Manama A Bahraini police officer has returned home after gaining valuable experience in police innovation and leadership during an intensive global programme hosted by Dubai Police. First Lieutenant Ali Tariq Alhasan from Bahrain's Ministry of Interior took part in the Police Innovation and Leadership Diploma, organised by Dubai Police in partnership with the Rochester Institute of Technology. The course brought together over 50 officers from multiple countries and ran for nearly four months. Global learning experience Lt Alhasan expressed gratitude to His Excellency Lieutenant General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, for the opportunity to attend. He described the experience as enriching both professionally and personally. 'This was not just a diploma, but a complete journey that enhanced my knowledge and gave me an international perspective on police collaboration,' he said. One of the highlights for Lt Alhasan was attending the UAE SWAT Challenge, where he witnessed elite tactical units compete under rigorous standards of professionalism and discipline. Exploring new technologies The diploma combined classroom lectures, field visits, and practical exercises. Lt Alhasan particularly appreciated Dubai Police's Smart Police Stations and the innovative Drone Box system, which he believes could improve rapid response and public safety measures in Bahrain. 'These pioneering ideas present exceptional opportunities to enhance the efficiency and quality of police services back home,' he said. Personal growth and future plans Lt Alhasan praised the inclusive learning environment and the camaraderie among participants. He also reflected on how his passion for horse riding has shaped his leadership style by promoting patience, discipline and communication. He concluded: 'The programme has inspired me and provided me with practical ideas that I am eager to explore further for the benefit of policing in Bahrain.'

They were warmly welcomed with bouquets and souvenir gifts for the children, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere. The PIL participants expressed their gratitude for this initiative, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cultural and humanitarian connections among different nationalities. They said that their involvement in the recently launched PIL program, which included 54 participants from 39 countries, significantly enhanced their skills and capabilities in various policing areas.

'It serves as an international standard, inspiring nations like Pakistan to pursue significant policing reforms.' Dubai's blueprint for modern policing With decades of field experience, both officers plan to adapt Dubai's successful practices to Pakistan's unique policing challenges. They view the approach as a viable model for efficient, inclusive, and technology-driven law enforcement. 'Dubai Police demonstrates how technology can foster inclusivity, improve efficiency, and build public trust,' added Col. Ali. 'This represents the future of policing.' Col. Umar Farooq called the programme an investment in Pakistan's policing future, especially due to its focus on digital innovation and leadership. Tech-driven transformation Dubai Police's application of AI, digital integration, and smart platforms left a lasting impression. 'We operated within traditional frameworks for decades,' said Col. Ali. 'Dubai has shown how innovation can revolutionise both security and community engagement.' Farooq, with a background in electrical engineering, pointed to emerging technologies such as blockchain and machine learning as critical tools for transforming crime reporting and prediction systems. Well-being and leadership Both officers stressed the need for a holistic approach to policing, including mental and physical health support. Col. Ali, who commands 2,500 officers in Kashmir, shared that poetry offers him solace amid professional demands. 'This programme emphasised physical fitness and resilience—essential traits for law enforcement,' said Farooq.
