Cops, LMC squads deployed for peaceful Bakrid festivity
Lucknow: With Bakrid on Saturday, Lucknow Police has put in place extensive security measures to ensure a peaceful festival. The key focus this year will be on preventing the sacrifice of banned animals and maintaining communal amity.
Joint commissioner of police (law & order) Babloo Kumar said that strict directives were issued against the slaughter of prohibited animals. "Teams from the Lucknow Municipal Corporation have been deployed, particularly in sensitive localities, to monitor and enforce the ban," he said. Local volunteers have also been roped in to assist with the festival arrangements.
To bolster community coordination, peace committees were formed at every police station.
"DCP-level meetings were conducted with committee members to address concerns and build mutual trust. We're working in close coordination with local leaders to uphold peace," Kumar added. Highlighting the magnitude of security deployment, the JCP said that 14 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), one unit of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), and a large number of civil police personnel have been stationed across the city.

High-security zones such as Aishbagh Eidgah, Teelawaal Mosque, and Bada Imambara will be under intense surveillance, supported by barricading and continuous patrolling.
In the western sector, PAC personnel will be deployed round-the-clock, aided by drone surveillance and real-time monitoring through CCTV networks. Police Response Vehicles (PRVs) will be patrolling key routes to maintain swift responsiveness.
"All officers are on high alert. Our collective goal is to ensure that the three-day Bakrid festivities are celebrated peacefully and with complete religious respect," Kumar emphasized.
