PVR member, three policemen remanded over bribery case
MELAKA: A Police Volunteer Reserve (PVR) member and three policemen have been remanded for five days for allegedly demanding and accepting a RM2,000 bribe from a couple.
The suspects comprise two corporals, aged 33 and 36, a 26-year-old constable, and a 40-year-old PVR member, who also holds the rank of corporal.
They are alleged to have demanded and received the bribe from a man who was caught with his girlfriend inside a parked car at Jalan Melaka Mall two weeks ago.
Magistrate Sharda Sheinha Mohd Suleiman granted the remand order until June 28, following an application by an investigating officer from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
All four suspects were detained between 3.50pm and 4pm yesterday at the MACC Melaka office.
State MACC director Adi Supian Shafie confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009 for bribery.
