Wildlife crossing highway sparks three-vehicle crash that kills SUV driver
A driver was killed in a three-vehicle collision sparked by wildlife crossing a highway in western Wisconsin on Friday.
The crash was reported around 3:25 p.m. on Highway 35 south of 210th Avenue near Milltown, where northbound traffic "slowed due to wildlife crossing the highway."
As the traffic slowed, a northbound pickup truck swerved to avoid rear-ending the vehicles ahead, struck a vehicle, "glanced off" and went into southbound traffic.
There, it struck an SUV head-on, killing the SUV driver.
The pickup truck driver had non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the vehicle that was glanced had minor injuries.
The name of the deceased driver will be released at a later date. The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Polk County Medical Examiner.
