Tamil filmmaker Vikram Sugumaran passed away today (June 2) due to a sudden cardiac arrest. He was travelling to Chennai from Madurai by bus. His friends and colleagues expressed their condolences on the demise of the filmmaker and paid their tributes on social media. Vikram Sugumaran's early career Vikram, who originally hailed from Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu, moved to Chennai to pursue his dreams in the film industry. He had a deep passion for acting and filmmaking. Filmmaker Balu Mahendra mentored him during his initial days, where Vikram worked as an assistant and contributed to multiple short films from 1999-2000. In his formative days, he was part of some major projects such as 'Julie Ganapathy'. Vikram Sugumaran's acting debut Vikram made his acting debut with the critically acclaimed 'Polladhavan', directed by Vetrimaaran. Tamil director Vikram Sugumaran passes away at 47 due to cardiac arrest
Tamil director Vikram Sugumaran, known for Raavana Kottam and Madha Yaanai Koottam, passed away on Monday (June 2) after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest while travelling from Madurai to Chennai. He was 47. Sugumaran, an acclaimed writer and filmmaker, made his directorial debut with the 2013 Tamil film Madha Yaanai Koottam. He started out as an assistant director to Balu Mahendra and also acted in some Tamil films, including Kodiveeran and Vetri Maaran's debut Polladhavan. He also wrote the dialogue for Vetri Maaran's Aadukalam. According to reports, Sugumaran was returning via bus from Madurai after narrating a script to a producer. On the way, he experienced severe chest pain and was rushed to the closest hospital. The doctors, however, could not resuscitate him. Actor Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, who starred in Raavana Kottam, condoled the director's death on social media, writing on X, 'RIP, dearest brother Vikram Sugumaran.
