BJP leaders question DMK's silence on Tasmac raids
Madurai: BJP leaders H Raja and Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy have raised concerns over the Tamil Nadu govt's handling of the suspected Tasmac scam , and urged chief minister M K Stalin to respond to questions about political interference and administrative inaction. Speaking to reporters after visiting Thirupparankundram Murugan temple here on Tuesday, BJP national executive member Raja said the DMK government is visibly rattled by Enforcement Directorate 's (ED) ongoing probe. "The ED has acted based on solid documentary evidence. Key suspects are now absconding," he said. He said the state govt knew about the corruption at least four months ago but failed to act. "Instead of addressing the issue, they tried to divert public attention by stirring the three-language policy debate," Raja said. Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, BJP's national co-incharge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, in his statement on Tuesday, also questioned the circumstances surrounding the torn Tasmac-related documents reportedly found near the managing director's residence. He said the DMK is attempting to shield those involved by discrediting ED and politicising the investigation. "The state govt must register cases, arrest those responsible, and fully cooperate with the probe. Anything less is a betrayal of public trust," he added.
