Kate Middleton Gushed Over Prince William's Support Amid Her Cancer Journey
Kate Middleton is opening up about Prince William's role in her recovery from cancer. Pausing to speak with royal fans during a visit to Pontypridd, Wales, the Princess was uncharacteristically candid about her experience, which took her away from the public eye for the majority of 2024.
"He's been amazing," she told the crowd, adding that, "We've felt the support from everyone, so it's meant a lot."
The royal couple descended on Pontypridd to support victims of Storm Bert and Storm Darragh, which caused severe flooding in a number of towns last December. While there, William and Kate also took the opportunity to visit Ponypridd Market, where they tried their hand at preparing a batch of Welsh cakes.
Ahead of their visit to The Welsh Cake Shop, owner Theresa Conner told People that 'Apparently, Kate is a very keen baker, and she is going to try her hand and make some with us.'
Prince William was heard joking of his Welsh cakes, per People, "You'll have to sell these for half price."
'A lot of our customers are very excited about it and are here trying to get a glimpse of them,' Conner added.
Middleton first revealed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024 after undergoing "planned abdominal surgery" that January. One year later, in January 2025, she announced that she was officially in remission.
"It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery," she wrote. "As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support."
For his part, Prince William has since described the couple's past year as "brutal."
'It's been dreadful," he said while on a visit to Cape Town, South Africa. "It's probably been the hardest year in my life.'
