Jammu SSP reviews security, directs police officers to ensure effective policing The senior superintendent of police in Jammu district Joginder Singh reviewed the prevailing security scenario and directed the officers to ensure effective policing at a meeting late Tuesday. During the meeting various security measures were discussed for controlling crime and ensuring peace and stability in the district, said a police spokesperson. Disposal of cases registered under old as well as New Criminal Laws of each police station/sub-division was discussed in detail, including disposal within time limit period of 60 and 90 days, he added. 'SSP Jammu also directed the police officers posted to provide good policing with assurance of safety and security to the general public. He also asked the officers to give a tough time to anti-national and antisocial elements while adhering to all legal parameters. SSP Jammu specifically mentioned that all drug peddlers should be identified and strict action need to be taken against them, said the spokesperson.

Sinha announces govt jobs for kin of Pakistan shelling victims
Lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday announced government jobs for kin of Pakistan shelling victims and said that rehabilitation of affected families was his top priority. On a visit to Poonch, the worst-hit town, Sinha met grieving family members who lost their loved ones in the recent hostilities from across the border. 'Ex gratia and other reliefs have been provided and the Centre is committed to further necessary assistance,' Sinha said. He said the J&K administration, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, is committed to ensuring rehabilitation, enhanced infrastructure and security for residents of border areas. 'We are expanding our efforts to construct bunkers across J&K under the security related expenditure (SRE),' Sinha added. The LG paid obeisance at Gurdwara Dera Santpura Nangali Sahib, which was damaged during the shelling. He lauded residents of Poonch, civil society members and all communities for courage and harmony. 'I salute the people of Poonch. Their courage provided moral strength to our soldiers. We are proud of our citizens and the Sikh community, who stand united against adversary's conspiracy to divide the society on religious lines,' the LG said. Later, he visited the Dungus area and took stock of the situation during a meeting with senior officials at Poonch. He directed that necessary measures be taken to ensure restoration of all essential services and supplies. Sinha asked the officials to submit an action taken report (ATR) to the divisional commissioner and the chief secretary offices. The LG visited the Poonch Brigade and interacted with soldiers and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. He lauded the soldiers for their bravery. The LG was accompanied by J&K chief secretary Atal Dulloo, Jammu inspector general (IG) Bhim Sen Tuti, divisional commissioner Ramesh Kumar and other senior officials. Sinha also visited Rajouri and met the families affected by the cross-border hostilities. He visited the Government Medical College, Rajouri, and enquired about the well-being of those injured in the shelling. He was briefed by Rajouri deputy commissioner Abhishek Sharma on the situation in the district and other matters pertaining to relief, essential commodities, medical and emergency services, damage to property and livestock, and requirement of new bunkers. The meeting also paid homage to Rajouri additional district development commissioner (ADDC) Raj Kumar Thapa, who was killed in the shelling. Later, Sinha visited Nowshera, took stock of houses damaged by the shelling and interacted with the locals.

‘Destroyed 13 enemy posts in just 3 minutes', says Indian Army officer on Operation Sindoor: Report
The Indian Army destroyed 13 enemy posts in just three minutes as part of Operation Sindoor after it retaliated against Pakistani firing, reported NDTV, citing an unnamed official. An Indian Army colonel said, 'On the intervening night of 6th and 7th May, we had two mortar bombs fired by the enemy in this exact place where you are standing right now. Within three minutes of our receiving fire from the enemy, we destroyed the enemy's 13 posts (bunkers) with a pre-coordinated fire plan. The timing was just three minutes.' The Indian armed forces remain in a state of high alert in case of any aggression from Pakistan, such as a ceasefire violation. India, in the early hours of May 7, launched a series of focused, precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in a mission named Operation Sindoor. The operation destroyed nine terror camps in the region. The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack, leading to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. Following Operation Sindoor, India and Pakistan were engaged in four days of conflict, until an understanding was reached on May 10 to cease all firing and military action. India has also decided to send multiple all-party delegations to various countries to explain its 'zero-tolerance' policy on terrorism in light of the Pahalgam attack and the heightened state of affairs with Pakistan.

Well prepped Poonch Brigade was at heart of Op Sindoor: Commander
Poonch Brigade Commander Brigadier Mudit Mahajan on Tuesday said the well-prepared strategic brigade was not just a part of Operation Sindoor, but the heart of it. Addressing the media at Poonch, he said the Indian Army struck with unmatched precision and decimated six of nine critical terrorist targets opposite Poonch, Rajouri and Akhnoor on the intervening night of May 6 and 7. 'Poonch Brigade was engaged in intense and continuous operations to blunt and respond to the unprovoked aggression by Pakistan from across the Line of Control (LoC). We did not wait to react, we prepared to respond. To that extent, I will say that the brigade was not a part, but the heart of Operation Sindoor,' he said. The brigadier added that the Pakistan-sponsored terror strike at Pahalgam on April 22 that left 26 innocent tourists dead was met with a calibrated response from the Indian Army, initially focusing on terrorist infrastructure. He added, 'Only when the Pakistan Army escalated by indiscriminately targeting civilian areas, the Indian Army decisively shifted to hitting their military assets. As the enemy unleashed drone swarms, the air defence emerged as the shield, demonstrating exceptional skill, resilience and cutting-edge coordination to intercept every aerial menace,' said Brigadier Mahajan. 'In sum, Pakistan Army's losses were not just in numbers, but in morale and initiative. They have lost their credibility before their own nation. So far, we have inputs of imposing heavy numbers in fatal and non-fatal casualties upon the enemy. The numbers are still adding up as our intelligence agencies are on the job to corroborate and verify these inputs,' he said. The commander issued a stern warning to Pakistan, reminding it that Operation Sindoor was not over and has been paused. 'Operation Sindoor is not over but suspended for the time being. The Indian Army is alert, ready and if challenged again, will respond with fire and resolve of the nation,' he added.

As India struck terror targets inside Pakistan and PoK, T-72 tanks, BMP-2 armoured vehicles moved up to LoC
After 'effectively neutralising' six of the nine terror locations falling opposite Poonch, Rajouri and Akhnoor in Jammu on the night of May 6-7, Indian troops prepared to respond to Pakistani aggression, said the Commander of an Army Brigade at Poonch on Tuesday. Referring to the Poonch Brigade's engagement in the 'intense and continous operations during Operation Sindoor to blunt and respond to the unprovoked aggression by Pakistan across the Line of Control', Commander Poonch Brigade, Brig Mudit Mahajan, said, 'To that extent, Poonch Brigade was not a part but the heart of Operation Sindoor. We did not wait to react; we prepared to respond.' Official sources said that while targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK, the Indian Army also moved its T-72 tanks and BMP-2 armoured personnel carriers up to the Line of Control as a preemptive move. Sources said the tanks targeted Pakistani posts that were facilitating the infiltration of terrorists into J&K. The Pahalgam terror attack was met with a 'calibrated response' from the Indian Army, initially focusing solely on terrorist infrastructure, Brig Mahajan said, adding, 'The Army struck with unmatched precision and purpose – six of nine critical terrorist targets struck were opposite Poonch, Rajouri and Akhnoor and these were neutralised effectively that night.' 'Only when the Pakistan Army escalated by indiscriminately targeting civilian areas did the Indian Army decisively shift to hitting their military assets,' he said. 'As the enemy unleashed a new threat of drone swarms, it was the Indian Army's air defence that truly emerged as the shining shield — demonstrating exceptional skill, resilience, and cutting-edge coordination to intercept every aerial menace,' he said. 'The Pakistani Army losses were not just in numbers but in morale and initiative,' he said. 'So far, we have inputs of imposing heavy numbers in fatal and non-fatal casualties upon the enemy.' Pointing out that Operation Sindoor is not over but only remains suspended for the time being, he said that the Indian Army 'remains alert and ready, and if challenged again, we will respond yet again not with words but fire and resolve of the nation.'
