Tipsters revel their fancy for biggest race of the year at Brighton

Golden Circet is the tipsters' fancy for the biggest race on the Brighton Racecourse calendar. The venue kicks off its three-day Summer Festival on Wednesday with the Sapporo Japanese Premium Lager Brighton Mile Challenge Handicap topping the bill (3.45pm). Press Association tipsters say Golden Circet can defy a 2lb rise to take the glory. The five-year-old has enjoyed a solid year, coming on from what was a lengthy absence on his seasonal debut at Chelmsford in April to win at Bath. He went close twice at Windsor and Newbury before getting his nose back in front at Epsom last time out. Last year's Brighton Mile saw 28-1 outsider Uncle Dick come from last to first in the final furlong for a thrilling win. PA believe Pop Dancer can maintain his impressive form this term in the Star Sports We Believe In Bookmaking Handicap. The eight-year-old has not finished outside the top three on his last six starts and has shown a liking for the Sussex track, where he has won three times. He won at Goodwood in May before being beaten by just three-quarters of a length at Brighton but then went one better on his return to the seaside. He was beaten by just a nose at the track in June and after a 58-day break can return refreshed and get himself into the winner's enclosure for the third time this season. Read more... The son of Pinatubo was well beaten over his first three starts over distances between seven furlongs and a mile when he finished no closer than 18 lengths adrift of the winner. But when he was dropped down to six furlongs on his last outing at Windsor he looked a different horse as he found only Pure Artistry too good, finishing a length-and-a-quarter second. Over that same trip the Archie Watson-trained three-year-old can make it fifth time lucky, with Hollie Doyle taking the ride for the first time a positive. BRIGHTON: 2.15 POP DANCER (NAP), 2.45 Summertime Blues, 3.15 Lunanova, 3.45 Golden Circet, 4.15 Orchestral Wave, 4.45 Ideal Guest.

Horse racing tips: ‘He has a lovely draw under Hollie Doyle' – Templegate's 5-2 NAP the one to beat

TEMPLEGATE takes on Wednesday's racing looking for winners. Back a horse by clicking their odds below. DRAMA (8.10 Kempton, nap) He ran a career best when only just held in a competitive contest at Southwell last month. The handicapper has nudged him up a pound but that should not be a problem now back at a track he has won at twice in the past. He has a lovely draw in stall three which should allow Hollie Doyle to get him switched off early off and if he settles then he looks the one they all have to beat for in-form trainer James Ferguson. GETALEAD (5.25 Warwick, nb) Was a big eyecatcher when finishing strongly for third over shorter at Newton Abbot a week ago. A return to further will make him hard to beat. COMMANDING PRINCE (3.30 Ayr, treble) Should be hard to beat in this modest contest. First-time cheekpieces will help him focus and it would be disappointing if he does not progress through the handicap ranks. Newsboy's racing tips for Wednesday's five meetings, including Brighton nap

Newsboy's has two big fancies at Brighton on Wednesday, with his Nap, Pop Dancer running in the 6.00 and his next best, Devasboy, going in the 7.30 POP DANCER can prove a big hit for punters in the Handicap (6.00) over five and a half furlongs at Brighton tomorrow evening. A two-time course and distance winner, the eight-year-old came good 18 days ago after an 18-race losing streak, making all to comfortably land a five-runner Goodwood handicap by half a length over the minimum trip. ‌ Undulating courses suit Tony Carroll's gelding, and a third win on the Sussex Downs course looks on the cards as he takes a drop in class. ‌ Later on the same card, DEVASBOY has had an even longer gap in between victories, his last being at Chester nearly three years ago. But despite the wait, the six-year-old has the opportunity to score a second course and distance success in the Download The Star Sports App Handicap (7.30) over a mile. He ran well at Chepstow last week on fast ground over seven furlongs, running on strongly under Tom Marquand in the closing stages to finish third of 13, a length and a half behind Ravenglass. And the fact trainer Michael Appleby has booked the same jockey again to ride him is a bonus.
