This inspirational sports biopic just crashed the Prime Video top 10 — and it's 93% on Rotten Tomatoes

Prime Video looks to have another hit on its hands with "The Fire Inside." Despite only coming to the platform a few days ago, it's already climbed into the Prime Video top 10 list. If you've not seen it before, "The Fire Inside" is a biopic about American professional boxer Claressa "T-Rex" Shields that was directed by Rachel Morrison (in her feature directorial debut) and written by Barry Jenkins ("Moonlight," "The Underground Railroad"). "The Fire Inside" might not have made a splash at the box office, but it was released to critical acclaim. Over on the review aggregate site, Rotten Tomatoes, you'll see it's Certified Fresh, with a 93% critics score and an equally impressive 94% on the Popcornmeter. The movie came to Prime Video on May 27, and in the days since, it's risen through the ranks to claim 5th place on the Prime Video top 10. That's quite the feat, given it's behind the likes of "Another Simple Favor", "Twisters", and "Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning." Trying to decide whether to stream "The Fire Inside" on Prime Video? Here's a little more info about the trending movie, and a round-up of what people have had to say about the streamer's new arrival. "The Fire Inside" is a sports biopic based on the early career of American professional boxer, Claressa "T-Rex" Shields (here played by Ryan Destiny). The movie explores her life from when the Flint, Michigan native first set foot inside a boxing gym, through to her becoming the first American woman to win a gold medal in boxing at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. In addition to Ryan Destiny, "The Fire Inside" also stars Brian Tyree Henry as Claressa's coach, Jason Crutchfield, plus Oluniké Adeliyi as Jackie Shields, De'Adre Aziza as Mickey, and Adam Clark as Clarence. As I mentioned, "The Fire Inside" comes highly recommended from both critics and fellow moviegoers alike. For example, The Guardian's Benjamin Lee rated the movie 4/5 stars, praising it as a "blazing boxing drama [that] packs a serious punch", adding: "The real-life victories by Shields and her coach were not easy, both pre- and post- Olympics, and what really makes The Fire Inside soar is that Morrison works just as hard to win us over." Marya E. Gates wrote: "Although the film hits a lot of the beats you'd expect, as it outlines Shields' journey towards Olympic gold, it does so with the kind of simple, lived-in details and empathy that Jenkins brought to his Best Picture winner 'Moonlight." Reviewing for Variety, Owen Gleiberman called "The Fire Inside" both "a grippingly downbeat boxing drama" and "a real rouser," adding: "The arc of the drama is built around an enormous curveball it throws at the audience. And that's when the movie really gets good." If you look at audience reactions on Rotten Tomatoes, you'll see plenty more glowing praise, too, including plenty of perfect 5/5 ratings. One user called "The Fire Inside" "a must-watch," "a raw, relentless, and inspiring masterpiece, and added: "This isn't just a boxing movie; it's a powerful story of grit, resilience and unbreakable spirit." Elsewhere, you'll see praise for the cast's performances, and buzzwords like "uplifting", "emotional" and "rewarding". Given that glowing reaction, I couldn't help but check it out for myself, and I'm inclined to agree; "The Fire Inside" gets my recommendation, too. Morrison's movie absolutely is a rousing watch, one that shines a light on Claressa's achievements with some solid in-ring action, but also worth sticking with for the grounded drama that follows her 2012 Olympic victory. 'Final Destination: Bloodlines' Earns Rotten Tomatoes Score in Franchise History

It's like the old saying goes, the sixth time is the charm. Or, at least it seems to be for the Final Destination movie series. The marketing blitz ahead of the Friday, May 16, 2025, premiere of Final Destination: Bloodlines generated plenty of buzz around the movie. And if the early returns are any indication, the film has a very good chance of living up to the hype it built. This marks the sixth installment in the series, and based on the reviews out of the gate, Final Destination: Bloodlines could prove to be the most popular film of the bunch. Although it's early, the film, starring Tony Todd, Brec Bassinger and Richard Harmon among others, has earned high marks from both critics and fans on Rotten Tomatoes. It currently has 108 critic reviews with an impressive score of 93% and over 500 fan reviews, earning an 89% rating on the Popcornmeter. As impressive as those marks are, as Collider detailed, they check in as far and away the highest received by any film in the Final Destination series. For comparison's sake, the debut film of the franchise, Final Destination, received a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 40%. Although Final Destination 2 was slightly better at 52%, the ratings fell to 44% for Final Destination 3 and 28% for the fourth film. Following a bounceback showing for Final Destination 5, earning a score of 63%, it seems the series may have found its groove, even with nearly a 14-year gap between the fifth and sixth installments. Even if Final Destination: Bloodlines were to hypothetically take a significant tumble in ratings, the movie is primed to remain the highest-rated in series history, and it likely won't even be close.

Netflix just added an emotional new romantic drama show — and it's already crashed the top 10

'Forever' is now streaming on Netflix, and this romantic coming-of-age drama looks to be a bold addition to the streaming service's ever-growing library. A new adaptation of Judy Blume's 1975 young adult novel of the same name, 'Forever' brings it into the 21st Century and centers on two Black teens — and it's proving a popular watch. At the time of writing, it's currently sitting at the #2 spot in the Netflix top 10 shows chart, putting it second only to the streamer's buzzy Tina Fey comedy series, 'The Four Seasons.' It's not just a hit in the charts, though; 'Forever' is also resonating with viewers, as it's landed some very positive reactions from critics and regular viewers alike. Right now, 'Forever' is Certified Fresh on the review aggregate site, Rotten Tomatoes, where it has earned a 95% critics score and a 93% rating on the site's Popcornmeter. If you're trying to decide whether 'Forever' belongs on your Netflix watchlist, here's a little more info about the new series, plus a quick round-up of what critics have had to say about the streamer's new arrival. Adapted for a new generation by Mara Brock Akil, Netflix's 'Forever' is an epic love story between two LA-based Black teen athletes, Keisha Clark (Lovie Simone) and Justin Edwards (Michael Cooper Jr.). The series takes place in 2018 and follows the pair as they explore their identities as they navigate the highs and lows of life that come from being in their first real relationship — and examines how all the "Firsts" from those relationships can shape or change our lives forever. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. In addition to Simone and Cooper Jr., 'Forever' also stars Karen Pittman, Wood Harris, Xosha Roquemore, Marvin Lawrence Winans III, Barry Shabaka Henley, Ali Gallo, Niles Fitch, Paigion Walker, and E'myri Crutchfield. I said 'Forever' had earned some high praise, and I wasn't kidding: viewers look to have fallen head over heels for the new Netflix drama. Rotten Tomatoes' critics consensus for 'Forever' reads: 'A thoroughly modern adaptation of Judy Blume's novel that retains its insight into young love, 'Forever' is an effervescent romance that'll put an everlasting smile on viewers' faces.' Reviewing at Variety, Aramide Tinubu called 'Forever' 'Brock Akil's finest work' and praised the series as an 'exquisite journey of love, becoming and the beautiful wonder and anguish of teenhood', one that 'captures the essence of Blume's novel and remixes it, not only for a 21st-century lens, but for generations of Black people who haven't seen themselves represented so vividly and tenderly.' The Guardian's Rebecca Nicholson gave 'Forever' a 4-star rating, arguing that the series 'is not only timely but important', writing: 'This eight-part series [...] is sensitive and winningly sweet, while still managing to maintain its defiance and bite.' She also calls the performances 'excellent', in particular our two leads. Finally, IndieWire's Ben Travers gave the series a B+ rating, arguing that the series 'captures the book's original spirit while keeping its focus squarely on the modern day', adding: 'While taking major departures from Blume's plot, Brock Akil stays true to its compassion, thoughtfulness, and message. Like love itself, 'Forever' should be easily recognizable, but there's still plenty to discover." As I mentioned, it's not just critics who are impressed with 'Forever', and RT's audience reactions reflect that, too. There are 50 logged on the site at present, and they're pretty positive indeed. One fan called it 'powerful on so many levels', while another said it was 'too good to not binge in one sitting' and a third said it was 'one of the best teen romance series I've seen in a very long time.' If all that has you sold on checking the series out, you can stream 'Forever' on Netflix right now. But if 'Forever' doesn't seem like your kind of show, we can still help you find your next Netflix binge. 'Thunderbolts*' Wyatt Russell Has 'No Clue' What He's Doing in 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Considering the immense amount of star power expected to be featured in the 2026 film Avengers: Doomsday, it's no surprise that some big names are still awaiting word on where their characters fit. However, for Wyatt Russell, one of the stars of the popular recently released film Thunderbolts*, most wouldn't expect him to be among those still in the dark. While Marvel continues its focus on keeping virtually everything about their films quiet to avoid revealing spoilers, it sounds like Russell is still waiting to receive information on all those top-secret storylines. During an interview on Driven hosted by ‪Andrew Freund‬, Russell admitted that he's entirely in the dark, hasn't read a script and has "no idea" what he's doing in Avengers: Doomsday. "I, honest to God, don't know what I'm doing. I have no clue, I have not read a script," Russell said. "I could die in the first five minutes, I don't know." Russell added that he's "beyond excited" and "honored" to be a part of that aspect of the MCU. Russell who stars in Thunderbolts* alongside Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, Olga Kurylenko and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, was a key part of the movie's immediate popularity. It currently boasts a critic score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes with a 94% rating on the Popcornmeter out of more than 10,000 total reviews.

When is 'Thunderbolts' coming to Disney Plus? Here's our best guess

(Image credit: Marvel) With "Thunderbolts*", Marvel might be back in its groove. Unlike "Captain America: Brave New World", Marvel's first feature of 2025, "Thunderbolts*" has landed with a bang. The movie hit theaters at the start of May and has made a splash with moviegoers. Following its opening weekend, "Thunderbolts*" has already raked in over $160 million worldwide at the box office. It's also earned winning reactions from critics and regular audience members alike. Currently, it's sitting at an 88% critics rating and 94% on the Popcornmeter over on Rotten Tomatoes. You may like Since it's generating a fair bit of buzz (and the fact that Marvel's already spoiled the asterisk reveal in official promo material), I'd wager a lot of Marvel fans have already either seen it or have tickets booked to go see it ASAP. If you're waiting for a "Thunderbolts*" streaming date — either to plan a rewatch or to check it out for the first time — we've done our best to figure out when the latest Marvel movie might come to Disney Plus; you can find our best guess below. When is 'Thunderbolts' coming to streaming? Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* | Final Trailer | In Theaters May 2 - YouTube Watch On At the time of writing, the only way to watch Marvel's "Thunderbolts*" is by heading to your nearest movie theater. Before it comes to streaming, it'll first hit Premium Video-on-Demand (PVOD) storefronts like Amazon or Apple. As a Marvel movie, we at least know that "Thunderbolts*" will be available to stream on Disney Plus when it arrives. And, even though we don't have an official streaming date, we can make an educated guess at when the movie might be available on Disney Plus. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Right now, I'd guess "Thunderbolts*" will come to Disney Plus on or around Thursday, July 30, 2025. That's 89 days after the movie's theatrical release date, and is our current guess at the "Thunderbolts*" streaming date. (Image credit: Marvel) That guess is based on the average wait we've had for recent Marvel releases. All of 2023's MCU entries — "Quantumania", "The Marvels", and "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" — took 89 days to come to the Disney streamer. The wait for "Deadpool & Wolverine" was a little longer (97 days), but that also ended up being a $1.3 billion box office success, so it made sense to keep it in theaters as long as possible. Whether "Thunderbolts*" will reach that same level remains to be seen. When we get an official "Thunderbolts*" streaming date, we'll be sure to share it here. So, if you're waiting to stream the final Phase Five movie on Disney Plus, keep checking back. And, if you need something to stream while you wait for "Thunderbolts*" to drop, check out our round-up of the best movies on Disney Plus you can watch right now. More from Tom's Guide
