Man fills in for intern doc friend at PGIMS, arrested
Rohtak: Police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly filling in for a friend who is an orthopaedics intern at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) here on Thursday.
Accused Sahad, a resident of Sonepat's Nizampur Majra village, was allegedly performing duties at PGIMS in place of his friend, Krishan Gehlawat, who is doing a one-year internship in the orthopaedics department after completing his MBBS degree from the United Kingdom.
Dr Rohit, the security in-charge at PGIMS, confirmed the arrest, stating that the accused failed to show an identity card to security officials.
Dr Rohit said the accused is now in police custody and PGIMS has given a written complaint regarding the issue.
Sources said the incident came to light when Sahad was performing duties in the orthopaedics department, and security officials asked him his name. He could not produce any document supporting his claim of being on duty. "The accused told us he did a diploma as a patient care assistant and his friend Krishan asked him to work in his place," said the official.
The accused had been coming to the department for some time and doing tasks like dressing and attending to patients under the supervision of senior doctors, said the official.
PGIMS police station SHO Roshan Lal said they were now looking for the intern. "The accused will be produced in court on Friday, and we are investigating the matter thoroughly," he added.
