Swachhta Pakhwada: NTPC Ramagundam launches a fortnight-long campaign

NTPC Ramagundam and Telangana on Friday launched a fortnight-long campaign dedicated to promoting cleanliness and sustainable living. The campaign forms the crux of the 'Swachhta Pakhwada' as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan aimed at fostering environmental awareness and collective efforts towards a greener future. The campaign will conclude on May 31. At a function held on the occasion at the NTPC township in Ramagundam, all the participants took the 'Swachhta Pledge' reaffirming their dedication to cleanliness and hygiene. Later, the participants took part in a 'Safai Abhiyaan' contributing to the collective efforts to keep the surroundings clean, a press release said. Later, the participants led by NTPC Executive Director (R&T) Chandan Kumar Samanta organised a 'Prabhat Pheri' from the main shopping complex to the main gate of the residential township.

Ranchi: The birth anniversary of , observed as , was celebrated with spiritual devotion and cultural grandeur in various parts of the city on Monday. The central event took place at Gorkha Chowk, Nepal House premises in Doranda, where a large number of devotees gathered under the aegis of the Chotanagpur Buddhist Society to take part in the religious event began early in the morning with special prayers and rituals performed by a Lama who arrived from Darjeeling in Bengal for the occasion. In a traditional ceremony, the 'Lungdar Flag' was hoisted at Hospital Line in Siddharth Nagar, followed by the worship of Lord MLA Rameshwar Oraon, who attended the event, said, "The life and principles of Lord Buddha continue to guide humanity towards compassion, peace, and social equality." He also urged citizens to adopt the Panchsheel principles to create a society which would live in harmony.A grand celebration was also held at the Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) Forest Campus, organised by the JAP-1 Vahini Gumba Committee. A ceremonial Prabhat Pheri was conducted, which was marked by traditional rituals, saw vibrant participation from local women and devotees, who chanted prayers and celebrated the occasion . Special prayers continued here for three consecutive days, followed by various cultural programmes to mark the auspicious Shri Krishna Pranami Seva Dham Trust also marked the occasion of Buddha Purnima at Shri Radha Krishna Temple in Pundag with special puja-archana, bhajan-kirtan, and Maha Aarti.

Laughing clubs to pay homage to Pahalgam terror victims

Kolkata: Members of different laughing clubs in Kolkata are set to spread the message of peace and pay homage to the Pahalgam attack victims during the World Laughter Day celebrations on Sunday. This year's theme is: "Bring joy, healing, and unity." Kolkata has around 55 clubs registered with the Laughing Academy of Eastern India. Around 20 members of Gharoa Laughing Club at Rajarhat will participate in an exercise session on laughter therapy and organise a rally in the morning. Rajkumari Jha, the club founder, said, "Every year we take part in a rally to promote laughter as one of the exercises to stay healthy. But this time, the situation is different, so our motto is to spread laughter and joy so that there is no place for hatred or violence." Members of Baishnabghata Patuli Township Laughing Club will observe one-minute of silence in memory of the Pahalgam attack victims. Samar Kumar Mitra, club secretary, said, "There will be a rally called Prabhat Pheri. We will spread the message of world peace through laughter that is a tranquillizer, equalizer and energizer."
